Image
Manchester United 1 - 1 Manchester City Manchester City won 7-6 on penalties Manchester City avenged their FA Cup final loss to Manchester United as Pep Guardiola's team emerged victorious in a penalty shootout after the Community Shield ended in a draw at Wembley. Later, experienced defender Jonny Evans sent his shot over the bar. Manuel Akanji then stepped up to secure City's first win in this competition since 2019, in front of a crowd of 78,416. It had earlier seemed Alejandro Garnacho had sealed the victory for United with a composed finish into the bottom corner, nine minutes from time, after a well-orchestrated move led by captain Bruno Fernandes. PL Reaction: Haaland strikes again

Image
Manchester City 2 - 1 Brentford Erling Haaland netted twice, bringing his Premier League tally to nine, as Manchester City overcame an early setback to secure a victory over Brentford and maintain their perfect start to the season. Brentford’s Yoane Wissa opened the scoring just 23 seconds in, heading into an empty net after a mix-up between John Stones and Ederson, who failed to clear Keane Lewis-Potter’s nod-back. City players and fans were shaken. However, Haaland quickly restored order, firing in a loose ball after Kevin de Bruyne was dispossessed inside the Brentford penalty area. The Norwegian striker then was in action again and bagged a second goal before half-time. He shrugged off Ethan Pinnock to reach Ederson’s long pass and slot the ball home. Fan reaction Macca, a Manchester Cit y fan, told us: "It was great to get the but there were some concerning signs throughout the match. Brentford caused our players a lot of problems. The atmosphere was also a bit rubbish.

UEL: Arsenal close to securing qualification

Image
Bodo/Glimt 0-1 Arsenal The Gunners  overcame testing conditions in the Arctic to claim a dogged 1-0 win and maintain their perfect record in this season's Europa League. And to put the result into perspective, the Norwegian champions had won each of their last 14 home games in European competition prior to this, including a 6-1 win over Roma this time last year. It edges The Gunners closer to qualification from the group stage, with three matches left. The matchwinner for the hosts was Thibo Somers, who capitalised on a defensive mix-up by Liam Donnelly and Lewis Mayo to score in a scrappy affair at the Jan Breydelstadion. Despite the defeat, the travelling fans had something to cheer about early in the second half when Robby McCrorie saved a Kevin Denkey penalty. Kilmarnock, despite their efforts, couldn’t find a breakthrough and will now move to the Europa Conference League, facing Norwegian side Tromso in the third qualifying round, with the home leg at Rugby Park next Thursday. If you want to get involved, please message us on Twitter and we'll respond as soon as possible. My first United game was the last watched by the old Stretford End. We beat Tottenham 3-1 and was mesmerised by the sights and sounds. In the previous weeks, we had thrown away a lead at the top of old First Division and lost the title to Leeds United. My dad knew this would be my first game and thought it would be a title party, sadly he was mistaken. We only had to wait another year to finally clinch the title and we were both there as we celebrated winning the first-ever Premier League. I was slightly older so was able to appreciate things a bit more. Little did my and my dad know though but football was about to change forever. Domination but at what cost? Over the next six years, United would win everyth
