Rumours suggest Spurs want Grealish

Image
Jack Grealish moving to North London? Tottenham are eyeing a sensational move for Jack Grealish amid uncertainty over his future at Manchester City. Author - Macca Could Jack Grealish be moving to Spurs? https://t.co/8dEkMVPVu0 https://t.co/dqUjAtT0y4 — European Super Football (@ESFootballNews) November 13, 2024 Ange Postecoglou is eager to strengthen his attacking options and feels the 29-year-old could bring a fresh dynamic to his squad. Spurs are seeking to add both quality and experience up front, and Grealish’s ball-carrying prowess is seen as a valuable asset. There’s a sense within the club that they need a player who can help control the tempo, with Grealish’s ability to draw fouls and move play forward seen as crucial. However, a January move seems unlikely, as City are reluctant to part with squad players while managing an ongoing injury crisis. Despite this, Tottenham are setting ambitious goals for the transfer market and are keen to pursue Grealish if a deal becomes...

PL News: Manchester City warn Phil Foden & Jack Grealish warned over conduct

Image
Manchester City have warned Phil Foden and Jack Grealish have been warned over their conduct after they were left out of their win over Newcastle on Sunday. The England pair were pictured on a night out after City's 7-0 home thrashing over Leeds. City are currently top of the Premier League and the win at Newcastle was their 34th league victory of 202. This is a new record for the most top-flight wins by a team in a calendar year. Foden and Grealish have both been integral to this great run of form. Grealish has appeared in matches since his huge transfer from Aston Villa in the summer.  Foden is a great role model for City's academy but he needs to stop the occasional off the pitch issue.     Pep Guardiola will hope this momentary lack of discipline doesn't become a regular thing.  The City boss told BBC Radio 5 Live: "I pay a lot of attention to behaviour on and off the pitch. And when off the pitch is not proper they are not going to play. "So they...

Nations League: England start new era with a win

Image
Republic of Ireland 0 - 2 England Lee Carsley started his time as England’s interim manager with a win in the UEFA Nations League against the Republic of Ireland. Declan Rice and Jack Grealish both scored against the team they once represented. Carsley, who also played for the Republic of Ireland during his career, will oversee England for at least two matches following Gareth Southgate's departure after Euro 2024. He had a smooth start as the Three Lions triumphed in a vibrant atmosphere at a packed Dublin stadium. Rice, who earned three senior caps for the Republic of Ireland before switching allegiance in 2019, quietened the home fans with a goal in the 11th minute after Harry Kane’s shot was blocked. Rice opted not to celebrate. However, former Irish youth player Jack Grealish put his fingers in his ears in response to scoring on his return to the England squad, following his exclusion from Southgate’s Euro 2024 team. Does an exciting new era await? When Lee Carsley walk...

Euro 2024: England name final squad for Germany

Image
England have confirmed their 26-man squad for the European Championships Gareth Southgate has revealed his final 26-man squad, and some notable names are missing. Manchester City's Jack Grealish, Manchester United's Harry Maguire, and Tottenham's James Maddison have all been left out. Burnley's goalkeeper James Trafford, Liverpool's defender Jarell Quansah, Everton's defender Jarrad Branthwaite, and Liverpool's midfielder Curtis Jones, who were part of the initial 33-player shortlist, have also not made the cut. Manchester United's Luke Shaw who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since mid-February, is part of the squad. This has come to the surprise of many but his experience and nature as one of England's best left-backs probably swung that in his favour. Premier League: Spurs and City play out a thriller

Image
Manchester City 3 - 3 Tottenham Hotspur In a nail-biting six-goal spectacle at the Etihad Stadium, Tottenham's Dejan Kulusevski stole the show with a stunning 90th-minute header, denying Manchester City a victory they thought was in the bag when Jack Grealish netted nine minutes earlier. However, the game ended in controversy as referee Simon Hooper called a foul on Erling Haaland, who had seemingly overcome a tackle and set up Grealish. Haaland's frustration lingered beyond the final whistle, with an animated response to something from the Tottenham bench as he stormed down the tunnel. Both teams got something out of this entertaining clash, with Tottenham initially taking the lead through Son Heung-min, only for their skipper to inadvertently redirect a cross into their own net shortly after. Phil Foden's clinical finish put City ahead at halftime, but Giovani Lo Celso's brilliant curler leveled the score in the second half. Yves Bissouma's error near the Spu...

It has been announced that Real Madrid have completed the signing of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund on a six-year deal. The Spanish giants will pay 103m euros for the 19-year-old, in addition to various potential add-ons. If those add-ons are achieved, the deal could reach 133.9m euros.  Bellingham was one of England's top performers at last year's World Cup and was named the Bundesliga's player of the season as Dortmund missed out on a first league title in 11 years on the final day. ECQ: Kane breaks England record in Italy

Image
Italy 1 - 2 England Harry Kane became England's record goalscorer as they opened their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign with an away win against Italy. Kane wrote his name into the history books in the 44th minute when he beat Gianluigi Donnarumma from the penalty spot for his 54th England goal. Declan Rice had earlier given England an early lead when he scored from close range after Kane's shot was blocked before the captain put his name in the record books. Italy whistled off at half-time in their first international in Naples for a decade, improved as England became sloppy. England dominated the first half but struggled in the second. Southgate's side were in total control during the first 45 minutes. The only negative was a dreadful miss by Jack Grealish that would have made it 3-0. It would have allowed England to avoid the anxious second half.  The away side then conceded control after the break and Italy looked like more of the side that had become European champio...

Premier League: City and Arsenal cancel each other out

Image
Manchester City 0 - 0 Arsenal  Manchester City and Arsenal played out a goalless draw, giving Liverpool the advantage in the Premier League title race. Liverpool are now at the top of the table, two points ahead of Arsenal and three ahead of City . They came from behind to beat Brighton at Anfield, and their delight increased even more when their two closest rivals cancelled each other out. This game failed to live up to its billing as a potential classic, as Arsenal's defensive tactics shut down City while the Gunners had limited chances.  Nathan Ake came close with a header early on but it was saved by Arsenal keeper David Raya. City striker Gabriel Jesus posed an occasional threat for the away side. He nearly scored but failed to connect with Bukayo Saka's cross.  The best reaction Lewis, a Chelsea fan, gave us the perspective of a neutral fan: "Manchester City will remain confident in their ability to retain their Premier League title, but their manager, P...

City end Forest's FA Cup dream

Image
Nottingham Forest 0 - 2 Manchester City Manchester City beat Nottingham Forest to secure their place in a third consecutive FA Cup final , brushing aside their opponents with a display full of control and composure. Author -  Macca Stadium - Wembley Stadium While Pep Guardiola's side were booking another trip to Wembley, their grip on the Premier League title quietly slipped away. Liverpool’s win over Tottenham Hotspur confirmed them as champions , ending City's four-year dominance in the league. In the capital’s warm spring sunshine, City imposed themselves from the outset. With the odds stacked in their favour despite being outnumbered in the stands, they wasted little time asserting authority. Just two minutes in, Mateo Kovacic found Rico Lewis on the edge of the area, and the 20-year-old guided a low strike into the bottom corner to give City the lead. Forest struggled to gain a foothold in the first half, as City sensed further openings. Omar Marmoush combined well wit...

International Friendly: England start Euros prep with a win

England 3 - 0 Bosnia-Herzegovina Cole Palmer celebrated his first start for England by setting Gareth Southgate's team on the path to victory against Bosnia-Herzegovina at St James' Park, as preparations for Euro 2024 continued. England's heavily rotated side struggled to find their rhythm in a scrappy match. Still, they eventually broke the deadlock an hour in when Palmer confidently converted a penalty after Ezri Konsa was fouled during a corner. Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold secured the win with a fine volley at the far post five minutes before full-time. Harry Kane then added a third from close range, giving the final scoreline a more convincing look. Iconic Euros Moments: Throwback to England v Scotland (1996)  Iconic Euros moments: Throwback to England v Italy (2021)  Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze, also making his full debut, was a standout performer until he was substituted, giving manager Southgate much to consider as he finalises his squad for the...

Does a Champions League classic await?

Image
Manchester City v Real Madrid Preview We explore what has the potential to be the match of the season. Author - Macca A clash between two of the biggest forces in English and Spanish football is nothing new. When Manchester City and Real Madrid meet in the UEFA Champions League, it will mark the fourth consecutive season they’ve faced off in the knockout stages of Europe’s elite club competition. However, this time, it’s in unfamiliar territory—the playoffs. Under the tournament’s new format, only the top eight teams in the expanded league phase secured direct passage to the last 16, and both City and Real fell short. City scraped through in 22nd place after a comeback win at home to Club Brugge in their final group match, while Real had a rocky start, losing three of their first five games before recovering to finish 11th. For the fourth season in a row, one of these European giants will see their Champions League run cut short by the other. City’s performance in this playoff...

Nations League: England eventually overcome Finland

Image
Finland 1 - 3 England England bounced back from their embarrassing UEFA Nations League defeat to Greece at Wembley but were still far from convincing as they eventually overcame Finland in Helsinki. Author - Thomas J Interim manager Lee Carsley made six changes following the loss to Greece, including swapping goalkeeper Jordan Pickford for Dean Henderson. However, England struggled to shine until late in the game when the world’s 64th-ranked side, without a point, began to tire. Jack Grealish, recalled to the starting line-up, eased England’s nerves with a composed finish after Angel Gomes’ superb pass in the 18th minute. Finland had chances to increase the pressure on Carsley’s men, but it was Trent Alexander-Arnold's stunning late free-kick that ultimately secured the win. Declan Rice added a close-range goal with six minutes remaining, giving the scoreline a more comfortable look for England and Carsley. Tottenham thrash City

Manchester City 0 - 4 Tottenham Hotspur A remarkable evening in Manchester. Who saw this result coming? James Maddison netted a brace as Tottenham swept past Manchester City, handing them a fifth consecutive defeat – a streak they hadn’t endured since 2006. Author - Macca Pedro Porro smashed in a third, and Brennan Johnson sealed the victory with a last-minute fourth on a remarkable night that saw City’s 52-match unbeaten run at the Etihad come to an end. That streak had stretched back to just before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. This was City’s heaviest home defeat since their 5-1 drubbing by Arsenal in 2003. It also marked the first time Pep Guardiola’s side had suffered three consecutive Premier League defeats under his leadership, just 48 hours after he signed a new two-year contract extension. For Spurs, it was a stunning turnaround. Despite being without both first-choice centre-backs, fielding five teenagers on the bench, and coming off a 2-1 home loss to Ipswich two weeks ag...
