Premier League: Forest stun Liverpool

Image
Liverpool 0 - 1 Nottingham Forest Callum Hudson-Odoi and an unbeaten Nottingham Forest shocked Liverpool at Anfield, putting an end to Arne Slot's flawless start as Liverpool manager. Coming off the bench, Hudson-Odoi cut in from the left and curled a perfectly placed shot into the far bottom corner, leaving Alisson with no chance. This marked Forest's first win at Anfield in any competition since 1969. Liverpool had come into the game brimming with confidence, having secured three consecutive wins without conceding a goal. And the home side certainly had the better opportunities in the first half. Luis Diaz came closest for the hosts before the break, chasing down what seemed a lost cause, cutting inside, and smashing a shot against the near post from a tight angle. Forest keeper Matz Sels made an important save to deny Alexis Mac Allister's header and had a lucky escape when he almost let Diaz’s shot slip into his own net moments later. After the break, Forest showed

Substitutes Fred and Anthony Elanga both found the net in the final 20 minutes. United went into a two-nil lead before the break thanks to goals from Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes. However, Leeds responded in the second half. Quickfire goals from both Rodrigo and Raphinha had pulled Marcelo Bielsa's side level before Fred and Elanga ensured all three points returned to Old Trafford. It was Leeds who carved open the first real chance of the game after just five minutes, as Mateusz Klich cleverly found Jack Harrison unmarked with a lofted through pass. He failed to trouble David De Gea and fired his effort wide of the mark. Memorable moments between Leeds United and Manchester United (eurosuperfootball.blogspot.com) Paul Pogba then aimed shortly after, with the Frenchman driving forward from the right before releasing a low drive t

The visitors could have taken a 3-0 lead within the first 15 minutes, having created a trio of excellent chances. Emmanuel Dennis and Anthony Elanga both forced saves from Chesterfield's goalkeeper, Ryan Boot, while Nicolas Dominguez hit the post with a shot from the edge of the area. Forest believed they had taken the lead just before the half-hour mark, but Dennis was adjudged to have fouled Boot when heading in a free-kick, and the goal was disallowed. Despite creating several more chances, including efforts from Ryan Yates and Elanga, they couldn't find a way past Boot before half-time. Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo made wholesale changes during the break, replacing all ten outfield players and switching to a 4-2-3-1 formation from the first half's back-three. The changes paid
