Elanga scores late winner for Forest

Image
Nottingham Forest 2 - 1 Aston Villa Anthony Elanga came off the bench to score a dramatic injury-time winner as Nottingham Forest turned a 1-0 deficit into a thrilling 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at the City Ground. Author - Craig H from GMCR Football  The Swedish forward struck in the third minute of stoppage time, threading the ball through Emiliano Martinez's legs to send Forest up to fourth in the Premier League table. Earlier, Villaā€™s Jhon Duran looked set to be the hero once again. Starting back-to-back Premier League games for the first time, the Colombian striker celebrated his 21st birthday in style, powering in a header for his 11th goal of the season. Forest thought theyā€™d equalised when Chris Wood bundled the ball home, but the goal was ruled out for an offside in the build-up. Moments later, Nikola Milenkovic restored parity with a close-range headerā€”his second goal in two games. With the City Ground crowd in full voice, Elanga capped the comeback with his first g...

Premier League: Forest stun Liverpool

Image
Liverpool 0 - 1 Nottingham Forest Callum Hudson-Odoi and an unbeaten Nottingham Forest shocked Liverpool at Anfield, putting an end to Arne Slot's flawless start as Liverpool manager. Coming off the bench, Hudson-Odoi cut in from the left and curled a perfectly placed shot into the far bottom corner, leaving Alisson with no chance. This marked Forest's first win at Anfield in any competition since 1969. Liverpool had come into the game brimming with confidence, having secured three consecutive wins without conceding a goal. And the home side certainly had the better opportunities in the first half. Luis Diaz came closest for the hosts before the break, chasing down what seemed a lost cause, cutting inside, and smashing a shot against the near post from a tight angle. Forest keeper Matz Sels made an important save to deny Alexis Mac Allister's header and had a lucky escape when he almost let Diazā€™s shot slip into his own net moments later. After the break, Forest showed...

Ipswich 2 - 4 Nottingham Forest Nottingham Forest strengthened their grip on the Premier Leagueā€™s top four with a commanding victory over relegation-threatened Ipswich at Portman Road. Author - Marcus Stadium - Portman Road The result had moved Forest to within a point of second-placed Arsenal (before their win over Chelsea) and edges them ever closer to securing Champions League football next season. On the day Nuno EspĆrito Santo marked his 50th Premier League game in charge, his side ruthlessly exposed Ipswichā€™s defensive vulnerabilities in a devastating seven-minute spell during the first half. Nikola Milenković set Forest on their way, capitalising on a fortunate deflection to fire home from eight yards after Ipswich forward Liam Delap had inadvertently nodded the ball into his path. Barely two minutes later, the visitors doubled their lead as Ipswich crumbled. Elliot Anderson released Anthony Elanga down the right, and the Swedish winger was inexplicably allowed to charge un...

PL: Fernandes shines as Man United beat Leeds

Image
Leeds United 2 - 4 Manchester United Let's check all the reaction as Manchester United survived a second-half scare to win 4-2 at Elland Road. Substitutes Fred and Anthony Elanga both found the net in the final 20 minutes. United went into a two-nil lead before the break thanks to goals from Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes. However, Leeds responded in the second half. Quickfire goals from both Rodrigo and Raphinha had pulled Marcelo Bielsa's side level before Fred and Elanga ensured all three points returned to Old Trafford. It was Leeds who carved open the first real chance of the game after just five minutes, as Mateusz Klich cleverly found Jack Harrison unmarked with a lofted through pass. He failed to trouble David De Gea and fired his effort wide of the mark. Memorable moments between Leeds United and Manchester United (eurosuperfootball.blogspot.com) Paul Pogba then aimed shortly after, with the Frenchman driving forward from the right before releasing a low drive t...

Pre Season: Forest ease to win over Chesterfield

Image
Chesterfield 0 - 3 Nottingham Forest  Nottingham Forest kicked off their pre-season with a 3-0 win against Chesterfield, courtesy of goals from Chris Wood, Josh Bowler, and Ibrahim Sangare. The visitors could have taken a 3-0 lead within the first 15 minutes, having created a trio of excellent chances. Emmanuel Dennis and Anthony Elanga both forced saves from Chesterfield's goalkeeper, Ryan Boot, while Nicolas Dominguez hit the post with a shot from the edge of the area. Forest believed they had taken the lead just before the half-hour mark, but Dennis was adjudged to have fouled Boot when heading in a free-kick, and the goal was disallowed. Despite creating several more chances, including efforts from Ryan Yates and Elanga, they couldn't find a way past Boot before half-time. Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo made wholesale changes during the break, replacing all ten outfield players and switching to a 4-2-3-1 formation from the first half's back-three. The changes paid...
