The Bundesliga club’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has been told Liverpool have no intention of selling the Colombia international and will not entertain any talks over his future.

Díaz, 28, was the subject of similar interest from Barcelona earlier this summer, which Liverpool also dismissed.

The Premier League champions are adamant the forward is not for sale at any price, underlining his importance to Arne Slot’s side following their title-winning campaign.

Since arriving from Porto in 2022, Díaz has established himself as a key figure at Anfield. He scored 22 goals for club and country last season, including 13 in the league, and provided seven assists as Liverpool finished 10 points clear at the top.

Overall for the club, he has scored 41 goals in 148 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool and has won the Premier League, the FA Cup and two League Cups.

Díaz, who has two years remaining on his contract, has also been linked with Manchester City and clubs in Saudi Arabia. He has said that he's very happy in Liverpool, will that be the end of the stiry though?

Fan opinion  | Sell him next summer?

Letting Diaz go at this point would leave Liverpool lacking in their attacking options, especially with both Jota and Nunez potentially leaving the club. With significant summer signings already made for Frimpong, Wirtz, and Kerkez, there is little justification for selling him unless a substantial offer is presented.

Keeping Diaz for one more season helps maintain depth and experience. Even next summer, he will still command a strong transfer fee. He is 28 years old, still in his prime, and another good season could increase his value.

We have dealt with similar contract and transfer situations in the past. It’s important to remain firm with Diaz. He wants to play, performs well when given the opportunity, and fits well within the system. Unless a bid of £75 million comes in, the wisest decision is to keep him on the team for at least one more year.
