The Transfer Window is open and one player is already on the move

Manchester United's midfielder, Donny van de Beek, has successfully sealed a loan switch to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 26-year-old will join the Bundesliga team for the remainder of the season, with an option to make the move permanent.

Having made only six starts in the Premier League since his £35 million transfer from Ajax in September 2020, Van de Beek, a Netherlands international, is seeking a fresh start. Manager Erik ten Hag recently commented that a move was necessary for the player to rejuvenate his career.

Van de Beek, who joined United, has featured in 62 matches across all competitions, scoring twice. After a loan stint at Everton in 2022, he returned to United but faced setbacks, including a serious knee injury that ruled him out for the latter part of the previous season.

Frankfurt are currently sixth in the German Bundesliga and sit nine points behind the top four. As the Bundesliga continues its winter break, the midfielder's debut in the league is expected to come against RB Leipzig on 13 January.

Is this a good move for everyone?

At the time of his signing for Manchester United, the then Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told the United website: “Donny has all of the technical attributes needed to perform in this team and has the personality required to succeed at Manchester United. His ability to see space, time his movements and read the game will really complement the qualities that we have in midfield and his arrival really strengthens the depth of talent we have in that position."

His new club will be hoping that those technical attributes can come to the forefront again and help them to a successful second half of the season.
