Premier League: Chelsea frustrated again

 Bournemouth 0-0 Chelsea

Fourteen shots and six attempts on target. No goals though. This was another disappointing afternoon for Chelsea.

You'd have to argue that Pochettino needs to solve some of their problems quickly because this is a brand-new team, but everyone knows how quickly the club hires and fires managers.

Bournemouth v Chelsea

The away side has now only scored five goals in the Premier League so far this season. Their fewest amount of goals after five games of a top-flight campaign since 1995-96 (5), when they finished 11th. Should they finish in that position again, you can't imagine the Chelsea owners will be very happy.

During this match, Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling both struck the woodwork. The Bournemouth keeper could not be beaten.

Late on, new signing Cole Palmer had a chance to win the game, but he shot straight at Neto. Dominic Solanke headed wide and forced a Robert Sanchez save for Bournemouth.

Best reaction from Chelsea and their fans

Chelsea fans have argued that they didn't really work the Bournemouth keeper too hard.

Lauren, one of these Chelsea fans, told us: "The system seems conceived about 10 minutes before the game. Players are individualistic and carry the ball all over without purpose. I know we have a lot of players injured at the moment, but I haven't seen any progress."

Dennis was in the away end. He added: "This is becoming rather frustrating. We ought to be securing victories against these supposedly lower-ranked opponents. The squad did display improved cohesion with some splendid link-up maneuvers. Nevertheless, it's becoming evident that 'we' require a more traditional striker upfront. My recommendation is that acquire Toney in the upcoming January transfer window. What do I know?"

A group of injuries means that, despite spending a lot of money on new players, Chelsea still aren't at full strength. Six of their subs on the South Coast had not played Premier League football before.

Some of the away fans booed at full-time, and some of the Chelsea players had said that they understood.

What are the Bournemouth fans saying?

Peter is a Bournemouth Season Ticket holder, he told us: "Even though we remain winless, last year we lost the same five matches. It is an improvement to get three points from them. We will see the real Bournemouth when we play the teams around us in the table."

Phil, added: "In the Premier League, for smaller clubs, a rock-solid defense is the key to survival. Solanke came close to snatching a win on a couple of occasions. I can't wait for October and the prospect of facing slightly more manageable opponents!"

An interesting stat

Bournemouth are unbeaten in three of their last four Premier League home games against Chelsea (winning once and drawing twice). They lost each of their first three top-flight home games against Chelsea between 2015-16 and 2017-18.
