Premier League: Bournemouth boost survival chances

 Tottenham Hotspur 2 - 3 AFC Bournemouth

Bournemouth took a huge step towards Premier League survival.

Spurs 2 - 3 AFC Bournemouth - 1

Dango Ouattara scored a stoppage-time winner in a fantastic finish at Tottenham. Son Heung-min had earlier opened the scoring for the hosts in the first half before Uruguay left-back Matias Vina marked his first Premier League start with a deserved equaliser for Bournemouth.

The Cherries looked set to clinch all three points after Dominic Solanke put them in front early in the second half, only for Arnaut Danjuma to come off the bench and equalise against his former club on 88 minutes.

Fellow Spurs substitute Richarlison then sent a free header wide deep into stoppage time. The visitors went up the other end and Ouattara netted a dramatic winner.

Reaction from some of those involved

“The primary feeling that we have is disappointment.” That was the response of Arnaut Danjuma.

Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke was very happy with his goal and his team's performance. He told the media after the match:  "We are getting a good patch of form at the right point of the season. We need to carry on and I think we'll be alright if we carry on how we have been playing. We need to rest now and tackle the rest when it comes."

Jonathan Worsfold replied to Solanke's tweet: "Your attitude and commitment reflect everything that makes us love this club. Always 100% effort - and a significant bit of class as well. Keep going mate."

What are the fans saying?

Peter, a Bournemouth Season Ticket holder, was delighted with how his team played. He said: "What a win for the lads. That was a sensational performance from the team. I am hopeful that we can stay in the Premier League now."

Gerry was in the away end in North London. he said: "An incredible football match, and I am just so happy that we managed to get a win here. I am now very confident that we will be enjoying the Premier League again next season."

Liam Banks, a Spurs fan, was less pleased with how his team played. He played: "Spurs were so poor in that match. However, I have to say a huge well done to Gary O’Neil. He got a lot of stick after he got the job permanently and they lost a few games. He’s certainly got them playing with a team spirit. Could he do a job at our club next season? Who knows?"

Greg, a Spurs fan, from Halifax: "We played some great football at times but we are just so bad at seeing games out. There were plenty of chances for us to win the match. We had an incredible 24 shots and still managed to lose. That is really annoying!"

Nicholas was at the match but watched as a neutral. He told us: "Spurs have had some of the best talent the Premier League has but nothing to show. Kane, Son, Bale, Modric and Walker to name just a few. However, this club is about balancing spreadsheets rather than winning trophies and creating memories for the fans."
