Premier League rumours and stories

Liverpool are reportedly ready to trigger the £75m release clause in Sevilla and France defender Jules Kounde's contract this month, with Chelsea and Real Madrid also interested in him.

Chelsea's German defender Antonio Rudiger, out of contract in the summer and yet to sign a new deal with the European champions, is said to prefer a move to Real Madrid over Paris St-Germain if he leaves London. 

Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani has committed himself to Manchester United for the rest of the season after talks with boss Ralf Rangnick. In terms of incoming players, United have discussed a move for Borussia Monchengladbach's Denis Zakaria this month. They are yet to make a bid for the Swiss midfielder. 

FA Cup: Man United hold on to beat Aston Villa 

Newcastle's hopes of signing defender Sven Botman during the January transfer window seem to be over, with the Dutchman's club Lille refusing to consider his departure. They are also desperate for a forward and have been quoted £50m for Bayer Leverkusen's Czech striker Patrik Schick. 

Other reports suggest they are in advanced talks to sign 19-year-old French striker Hugo Ekitike from Reims for just under £30m.

They could also rival Ajax in pursuit of Netherlands winger Steven Bergwijn. His representatives are looking at loan options for him away from Tottenham. Ajax have already made a £15m bid for Bergwijn and are keen to complete a deal for him before they face Utrecht on Sunday. 

Who could be moving to Italy?

AC Milan are considering a move for Manchester City's Dutch defender Nathan Ake.They recently lost Simon Kjaer for the rest of the season with a knee injury. Ake has struggled to become a regular feature in City's defence.

Milan (alongside Roma) are among the clubs that could be interested in French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. His future at Tottenham is uncertain after he was booed by Spurs supporters when substituted in Sunday's FA Cup third-round win against Morecambe.

What's been happening with PSG?

Over the next two transfer windows, PSG are expected to feature heavily. It has been reported that they want to bring Zidane in as a manger, in a bid to keep Kylian Mbappe. The French forward continues to be linked with clubs from across the continent. Could he end up staying in Paris?
