Lamine Yamal put Spain ahead before goals from Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane turned the game around for England.

Kane then missed a penalty before Alex Baena curled in an equaliser, with Mikel Oyarzabal scoring the winner.

Did James Trafford impress on a rare England start?

James Trafford: Showed early on that he was comfortable playing out from the back but conceded after just two minutes when Guehi gifted the ball to Lamine Yamal. Produced an important save to deny Torres making it 2-0 in the first half. 6

Did one defender have something else on his mind?

Jarell Quansah: Continued at right-back after showing his ability in the position at the World Cup. A physically commanding performance and came close to scoring but headed over. 6

Ezri Konsa: Had some shaky moments alongside England's back four but the centre-back settled and improved as the game progressed. 6

Marc Guehi: Made an uncharacteristic error to gift possession, and the opening goal, to Lamine Yamal. 5

Nico O'Reilly: Supplied the cross for Kane's goal as England took the lead in the first half. Worked hard to contain Lamine Yamal but gave the ball away for Spain's second goal. 6

Bellingham the star man in England's midfield

Elliot Anderson: Nearly paid the price for giving the ball away in a dangerous position in the first half, although Ferran Torres rolled his effort wide. Anderson and midfield partner Lewis-Skelly took time to settle on a difficult night against a Spain side that moved the ball with such quality. 6

Myles Lewis-Skelly: Made his first England start in central midfield after impressing for Arsenal. Faced the difficult task of trying to cut off the supply to Spain's midfield conductor, Rodri. A solid performance before being replaced after 70 minutes. 6

Jude Bellingham: The Real Madrid midfielder delivered another dominant display and was unfortunate to end up on the losing side. Assisted England's equaliser and won a penalty which Kane struck against the bar after slipping. Stung Simon's palms with a drive in stoppage time. 8

Bukayo Saka: Won a couple of free-kicks around the edge of the box and fired over from distance in the first half. Curled an effort just wide with the scores level but endured a relatively quiet night. 6

Anthony Gordon: The Barcelona winger scored an excellent counter-attacking goal. Kept his composure when Bellingham played him through, using his pace to race clear. Delivered a dangerous cross after England fell behind and remained a threat in behind throughout. 8

A mixed night for the England captain

Harry Kane: Dropped deeper in the first half in search of possession after England went behind. Scored the second with a deflected header to put England ahead but missed a penalty when England had the chance to add a third in the second half. 7

Real Sociedad 1 - 2 Bournemouth  Bournemouth held on to claim a famous victory at Real Sociedad in the first European match in the club's history.
