PL Reaction: Haaland strikes again

Manchester City 2 - 1 Brentford Erling Haaland netted twice, bringing his Premier League tally to nine, as Manchester City overcame an early setback to secure a victory over Brentford and maintain their perfect start to the season. Brentford’s Yoane Wissa opened the scoring just 23 seconds in, heading into an empty net after a mix-up between John Stones and Ederson, who failed to clear Keane Lewis-Potter’s nod-back. City players and fans were shaken. However, Haaland quickly restored order, firing in a loose ball after Kevin de Bruyne was dispossessed inside the Brentford penalty area. The Norwegian striker then was in action again and bagged a second goal before half-time. He shrugged off Ethan Pinnock to reach Ederson’s long pass and slot the ball home. Fan reaction Macca, a Manchester Cit y fan, told us: "It was great to get the but there were some concerning signs throughout the match. Brentford caused our players a lot of problems. Manchester City 1 - 0 Southampton Manchester City reclaimed their spot at the top of the Premier League table after an early goal from Erling Haaland secured a narrow victory over struggling Southampton. Author - Sean M Haaland muscled past Jan Bednarek to connect with Matheus Nunes' cross just five minutes in, slipping the ball past Saints’ goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for his 11th league goal of the season. At that moment, it seemed as though the visitors were in for a tough afternoon. However, a combination of resilient defending from Southampton and some wasteful finishing by City—Haaland being a notable offender—left the home fans feeling a bit uneasy until the final whistle. This win extended City’s unbeaten run in the Premier League to 32 matches. They are now only six weeks away from going a full year without a league defeat, their last loss coming against Aston Villa on 6 December. While Southampton deserve credit for their determined display , the result did little to ea

FA Cup: Youngsters shine as United win the cup

Image
Manchester City 1 - 2 Manchester United Manchester United’s victory stopped Premier League champions City from claiming a second consecutive domestic double. United's win was forged through an impressive first-half performance that saw goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo. City inevitably ramped up the pressure in the second half, with Erling Haaland hitting the post, United keeper Andre Onana making a superb save from Kyle Walker, and Julian Alvarez missing a golden opportunity. City substitute Jeremy Doku pulled one back with four minutes remaining, but Ten Hag's side held firm to secure a famous victory and  clinch their 13th FA Cup, their first since 2016. ECQ: Spain and Scotland qualify for Euro 2024

Image
Norway 0 - 1 Spain  Spain and Scotland have qualified from Group A and will take part in Euro 2024. With a win in Norway on Sunday, Spain secured a spot at Euro 2024, as well as helping Scotland qualify from Group A. In the second half, Barcelona midfielder Gavi scored to help the 2008 and 2012 European champions advance to the championships with two games left of qualifying.  Erling Haaland's Norway last appeared at a major tournament in Euro 2000, can now only potentially qualify through play-offs.  On the night, Spain barely allowed Manchester City striker Haaland a sniff all night long on what turned into a frustrating night for the Norwegians.  Gavi eventually fired Spain into the lead just after half-time. The midfielder pounced in Norway's area when Mikel Oyarzabal's shot was deflected into his path and gave him a straightforward goal.  Quick reaction from Norway and Spain Ronnie from Oslo is unhappy with the fact that Norway haven't finished in the top of t

Premier League: Spurs and City play out a thriller

Manchester City 3 - 3 Tottenham Hotspur In a nail-biting six-goal spectacle at the Etihad Stadium, Tottenham's Dejan Kulusevski stole the show with a stunning 90th-minute header, denying Manchester City a victory they thought was in the bag when Jack Grealish netted nine minutes earlier. However, the game ended in controversy as referee Simon Hooper called a foul on Erling Haaland, who had seemingly overcome a tackle and set up Grealish. Haaland's frustration lingered beyond the final whistle, with an animated response to something from the Tottenham bench as he stormed down the tunnel. Both teams got something out of this entertaining clash, with Tottenham initially taking the lead through Son Heung-min, only for their skipper to inadvertently redirect a cross into their own net shortly after. Phil Foden's clinical finish put City ahead at halftime, but Giovani Lo Celso's brilliant curler leveled the score in the second half. Yves Bissouma's error near the Spu

Unlikely and sensational late goals from Lyndon Dykes and Kenny McLean maintained Scotland's perfect start to Euro 2024 qualifying as Steve Clarke's side stunned Norway in Oslo.
