Premier League: Everton move out of bottom three

Everton 1 - 0 Brentford Everton boosted their survival chances with a win in front of a vocal Goodison Park. The Blues started the day 18th but capitalised on teams around them failing to win by moving out of the Premier League relegation zone, leaping two points and three places above trouble. McNeil's delightful strike after just 35 seconds gave the hosts the perfect start, rasping a finish across the goal which nestled into the far corner. Buoyed by their fans, the home side were swarming all over the Bees and created much better chances with Demarai Gray seeing a second goal ruled out for handball by VAR. As the game moved to a conclusion, Brentford looked to salvage something but they were not at their best, Ethan Pinnock having a header cleared off the line by McNeil and Kevin Schade heading wide at the far post as their 12-match unbeaten run ended.  Despite the result, they will be still hoping to qualify for Europe. Everton will just be concentrating on building o...

Manchester United 4 - 0 Everton Ruben Amorim secured his first Premier League victory in style as Manchester United cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win over struggling Everton at Old Trafford. Author - Olivia T After a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town in Amorim's league debut last weekend and a midweek Europa League win over Bodo/Glim t, the Portuguese boss saw his side find their feet on Sunday. Despite a shaky start, they ultimately delivered a clinical performance, with Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee both bagging two goals apiece. It was a match to forget for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, who had been a summer transfer target for United. His misfortune played a key role in the home side’s opening goals. Rashford’s low strike took a deflection off Branthwaite's boot to give United the lead, and moments later, the centre-back was caught dithering on the ball. This allowed Amad Diallo to steal possession and set up Bruno Fernandes, who teed up Zirkzee for a composed fi...

A very important goal for Everton. https://t.co/IlqFoRT8ul pic.twitter.com/DRTEvyAM6o — SuperFootball (@ESFootballNews) May 21, 2023 It looked like Hee Chan Hwang had scored the winner for Wolves when he turned home the rebound after a lung-bursting run and powerful effort from Adama Traore, and his side could have put the game beyond doubt with chances either side of the break at Molineux.   Instead, relegation-threatened Everton earned their point at the death when James Tarkowski beat Dan Bentley in the air and Yerry Mina turned in from close range. The Everton boss Sean Dyche told the media: "Formation and tactics doesn't always win games, mentality wins games and gets us a point today with a firm mentality and people not making excuses. They kept knocking on the door as har...
