Premier League: Everton secure dramatic draw against Wolves

 Wolverhampton Wanderers 1 - 1 Everton

Everton struck nine minutes into injury time to slightly boost their survival hopes and deny Wolves a fifth straight home success in the Premier League.

It looked like Hee Chan Hwang had scored the winner for Wolves when he turned home the rebound after a lung-bursting run and powerful effort from Adama Traore, and his side could have put the game beyond doubt with chances either side of the break at Molineux.

Instead, relegation-threatened Everton earned their point at the death when James Tarkowski beat Dan Bentley in the air and Yerry Mina turned in from close range.

The Everton boss Sean Dyche told the media: "Formation and tactics doesn't always win games, mentality wins games and gets us a point today with a firm mentality and people not making excuses. They kept knocking on the door as hard as they could and eventually, we got a reward."

The main events of the match.

Everton had started brightly at Molineux too, with Hee-Chan Hwang's goal coming against the run of play. This was after a sensational break from Adama Traore. Could Everton get back in the game?

That goal quickly galvanised the hosts, who could have added a second almost immediately. Joao Gomes' strike was pushed away by Pickford to give Everton hope.

They dominated much of the second half. However, they could not find the target. Semedo and Sarabia both went close but sent their efforts wide. As time ticked over, it stayed 1-0.

In the dying seconds, a Gray corner was delivered to the back post with Bentley fluffing his catch. Keane collected the loose ball, finding Mina just to his left, with the defender slotting home and earning Everton a vital point.

After the match, the Wolves players thanked fans for their support. It has been a difficult season for them but they will be happy to stay up.

For Everton, they now have a vital few days of preparation in their bid to avoid relegation. Liam, an Everton fan, told us: "That was an incredible moment. It was an awful performance before that though. I am concerned about what could happen next week."
