Premier League: Arsenal keep the pressure on

Image
Arsenal 3 - 0 Bournemouth Arsenal comfortably defeated Bournemouth to keep the pressure on Manchester City. The Gunners remain one point ahead of their title rivals but the blues have played a game less.  The home side dominated the first half and broke the deadlock just before half-time from the penalty spot. Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers fouled Kai Havertz in the box. This resulted in a penalty for Arsenal that Bukayo Saka calmly converted.  In the 70th minute, Declan Rice set up Leandro Trossard for Arsenal's second goal. Trossard curled the ball beautifully into the net from inside the area. Rice then added to the score line in added time to give Arsenal a comfortable win.  Bournemouth look a decent side During the second half of the game, Bournemouth showed more aggression and put in more effort to score a goal. Dominic Solanke's shot was saved by David Raya, and Justin Kluivert missed the target with his attempt.  Antoine Semenyo did find the back of the ne

Premier League: Arsenal thrash West Ham

Although the game was evenly poised for the first thirty minutes, Arsenal dominated possession.  More Premier League news can be found here Transfer News: Rice signs for Arsenal  In the 32nd minute, Rice delivered a corner kick, finding Saliba in the box who leapt and headed the ball into the net, putting Arsenal ahead 1-0. Premier League: Arsenal's title charge halted slightly

Arsenal 1 - 1 Brentford What impact could this match have at the end of the season? Read on to reach your own conclusion Leandro Trossard scored his first goal for Arsenal but the Premier League leaders missed the chance to move eight points clear at the top as Ivan Toney earned resilient Brentford a deserved point. Mixed feelings... Proud to score my first as a Gunner but gutted with the draw 🔴⚪ @Arsenal pic.twitter.com/wdDsvlNXbg — Leandro Trossard (@LTrossard) February 11, 2023 After a goalless first half in which the Bees hit the woodwork through Toney, the home side took the lead when Trossard struck at the back post four minutes after coming off the bench. The Bees got the equaliser that they probably deserved when Ivan Toney nodded in Christian Norgaard's cross from close range. Has this dented Arsenal's title chances? Who knows? They didn't look at their best in this game and will be concerned that they didn't take the three points from this match. DJ, a

Arsenal 3 - 2 Bournemouth  Premier League leaders Arsenal came from two goals down to beat Bournemouth. Bournemouth had taken the lead after just 9.11 seconds through Philip Billing and the away side then went 2-0 up via a Marco Senesi header. However, Arsenal pulled level with goals by Thomas Partey and Ben White, before Reiss Nelson struck in the 97th minute. A new hero at Arsenal  Nelson had played just 64 minutes of Premier League football this season before being thrown on as a second-half substitute by Mikel Arteta. One Twitter user said: "What an unbelievable strike from him. I’m so happy for him with everything that’s happened to him at Arsenal. Hitting one of the best left-footed shots that I’ve seen at the Emirates for a long time." A crucial game at both ends of the table Bournemouth’s players crumpled into assorted heaps. Despite their efforts, Wolves manager Gary O’Neil will have few complaints about the result, as his team struggled to create clear chances

Premier League: North London is red

Tottenham Hotspur 0 - 1 Arsenal Gabriel was Arsenal's North London derby day hero as he headed home the only goal to secure a third-straight victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Brazilian defender towered over the Spurs defence on 64 minutes to divert home a Bukayo Saka corner and settle a game of few chances. You'd have to say that Arsenal enjoyed the better of throughout the contest and ultimately deserved their hard-fought victory. The result ensured that Arsenal remains unbeaten in the Premier League this campaign, but more importantly for all Gooners, saw them claim a hat-trick of wins at the home of their neighbours for the first time since 1988 as their fantastic away record in 2024 continues. Pre Season: Arsenal win in LA

Arsenal 2 - 1 Manchester United Manchester United were defeated in their opening game of the US tour against Premier League rivals in Los Angeles. Højlund gave his team an early lead in the 10th minute, latching onto Marcus Rashford’s first-time pass, overpowering young defender Ayden Heaven, and slipping the ball through keeper Karl Hein’s legs. The Danish forward missed a close-range opportunity from an Aaron Wan-Bissaka cross before appearing to suffer a muscle injury just 15 minutes in, forcing him to leave the field. Yoro's departure was similarly unfortunate. The 18-year-old defender, who had only joined United from Lille 10 days ago, went down and required extensive treatment before also having to withdraw. Manager Erik ten Hag was understandably frustrated by these injuries. Despite their strong start, the match didn’t end to the Dutchman’s satisfaction either. Gabriel Jesus equalised with a close-range effort after 25 minutes, which Ten Hag believed should have been r

Pre Season: Arsenal win on penalties

Image
Arsenal 1 - 1 Bournemouth  Arsenal won 5-4 on penalties Arsenal began their three-match tour of the United States by beating Bournemouth 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.  Fabio Vieira gave Arsenal a first-half lead when he hit Reiss Nelson's deep cross on the volley. The Gunners were pegged back when Antoine Semenyo equalised via a wicked deflection. Far from being friendly, this was a competitive game where several players were booked. After that closely fought 90 minutes, the Arsenal keeper Karl Hein came up trumps in the penalty shootout by saving two spot-kicks, ending the night on the high. Ultimately, pre-season is all about players gaining fitness ahead of the new campaign. From that perspective, it was a worthwhile exercise for both clubs. For Arsenal, their staff will be figuring out how they can improve once again and become Premier League champions for the first time since 2004. Transfer News: Raya signs for Arsenal permanently

Image
Do you think this is a good permanent move Arsenal fans? The Gunners have activated the £27m option to permanently buy Brentford goalkeeper David Raya after his successful loan spell last season. Raya kept 16 Premier League clean sheets for the Gunners to win the Golden Glove, conceding just 16 league goals in the campaign. He did have an underwhelming start to the season. His lowest point came after making two errors in Arsenal's last-gasp 4-3 win over Luton in December. Arsenal already had a settled keeper in Aaron Ramsdale, who had played all 38 league matches the previous season, keeping 14 clean sheets. Still, boss Mikel Arteta opted for a new option. Premier League: Arsenal were ruthless against Burnley

Image
Burnley 0 - 5 Arsenal Following Liverpool's win in the early game against Brentford, The Gunners knew they had to win this match and they duly obliged.  Following their 6-0 victory at West Ham last week , Arsenal were soon among the goals again, with captain Martin Odegaard opening the scoring after four minutes with a precise strike into the bottom corner following Gabriel Martinelli's pass. Bukayo Saka converted from the penalty spot to double the lead after Lorenz Assignon fouled Leandro Trossard in the box. Saka secured his second goal just after the restart as Arsenal maintained the pressure, seizing on a clever pass from Odegaard, cutting inside, and firing a shot into the roof of the net. Havertz's scuffed effort was blocked in the box, but Trossard was alert to curl in his third goal in as many league games. Jakub Kiwior's long throw down the line then found an unmarked Havertz, who slipped in behind the defence and drilled past home goalkeeper James Traffor
