Bradford City carry on impressive form
Bradford City 3 - 1 Grimsby Town
Bradford City secured their third win in four matches with an impressive performance against fellow play-off contenders Grimsby Town.
Goals from Lewis Richards and Richie Smallwood gave the Bantams a strong lead, with Alex Pattison adding a third after Cameron McJannet had briefly brought the visitors back into the game.
Grimsby goalkeeper Jordan Wright was in fine form during the first half, frustrating Bradford with a string of excellent saves. He denied Ciaran Kelly's close-range header and then produced a stunning double save to keep out Antoni Sarcevic and Bobby Pointon.
Wright then parried Calum Kavanagh's long-range effort as Bradford, missing injured top scorer Andy Cook, pushed for an opener.
The breakthrough finally came just before the interval, as Richards latched onto Aden Baldwin's cross to score in back-to-back games.
Smallwood doubled the lead with a penalty after McJannet fouled Sarcevic. However, McJannet made amends moments later, heading in Denver Hume's corner to reduce the deficit.
Pattison sealed the victory in the 69th minute with a powerful run and strike that clipped the post on its way in.
European Super Football is the best place for EFL news and stories.
This marks the first time in four years that Bradford have won four consecutive games at Valley Parade, underlining their play-off credentials.
After the match, one Bradford season ticket holder sent the following message to the European Super Football Bluesky account:"I thought we were very good, apart from switching off and conceding from a corner. If that midfield combination stays fit, I honestly believe we’ll be challenging for promotion and a return to League One."
