It's still early days but it definitely feels like there will be a crazy title race this year. Manchester United and Manchester City both look like sides that can mount a serious challenge to Chelsea.

Arsenal edge past Brighton in front of 27,336 fans

Arsenal ended a four-game winless run in the Women’s Super League with a hard-fought victory over Brighton, though questions about their fluency remain.

The hosts went in front after 15 minutes when Olivia Smith’s low strike took a deflection off Brighton defender Marisa Olislagers and wrong-footed goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie.

Despite the early breakthrough, Arsenal struggled to assert themselves and were indebted to goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar, who denied Brighton's attacking players on several occasions.

London City Lionesses condemned West Ham to an eighth consecutive WSL defeat.

Rehanne Skinner’s West Ham side remain bottom of the table after another defeat, still without a point in the league since April of last season.

By contrast, newly promoted London City continue to impress, climbing into the top half with their third win from six matches.

Jocelyn PrĂŞcheur’s team controlled the first half at Hayes Lane, dictating possession, although it was West Ham’s Viviane Asseyi who came closest to breaking the deadlock when her audacious long-range strike clipped the outside of the post with goalkeeper Elene Lete beaten.

Walsh’s wonder strike earns Chelsea vital win over Spurs

The England midfielder’s first goal for the club sealed victory for the current Women's Super League champions after two frustrating draws against Manchester United and FC Twente.

After being frustrated by a resolute Tottenham side, the breakthrough finally came in the second half when Keira Walsh fired a superb strike into the bottom corner, her first goal for Chelsea and her first in the WSL since 2021.

The win lifts the champions to 16 points from six matches at the top of the table, while Tottenham sit four points behind.

Man United carry on impressive start to WSL season

United extended their unbeaten start to the season with a hard-fought victory over Everton at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Marc Skinner’s side, who have now won four and drawn two of their opening six WSL games, were forced to come from behind in front of a crowd of 18,154.

The result keeps United in the chase for top spot, narrowing the gap on leaders Chelsea to two points, while Everton remain without a home victory this season and sit 10th in the table.

Record seventh consecutive WSL defeat for Liverpool

Aoba Fujino struck late as City came from behind at Anfield to inflict a club record seventh consecutive Women’s Super League defeat on Liverpool.

The Japan forward fired home a low drive to send AndrĂ©e Jeglertz’s side second in the table and deepen the Reds’ misery, their losing run in the league now stretching back to the end of last season.

Defeat leaves Liverpool second from bottom with five straight losses this term.
