The 25-year-old Morocco international becomes the Cherries’ seventh arrival of the summer after agreeing a five-year contract. A versatile attacker, Adli is most often deployed on the left but has also operated centrally and on the right.

He made 143 appearances for Leverkusen, contributing 10 goals and 12 assists across 42 games last season as Xabi Alonso’s side secured a Bundesliga and German Cup double.

Adli is most comfortable on the left wing but can also operate as an attacking midfielder, either centrally or drifting inside from the left.

He joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2021, shortly before Xabi Alonso took charge, yet was unable to secure a regular starting role and was more often used as an impact substitute with Florian Wirtz and Nathan Tella ahead of him.

His involvement increased during the season before 2023-24 when Wirtz was sidelined by injury, but in the title-winning campaign he again found himself largely on the fringes of the side.

A busy summer of signings and sales

This summer they have also raised about £150m through sales, with Milos Kerkez, Dean Huijsen and Illia Zabarnyi moving to Liverpool, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.

Bournemouth are thought to be close to finalising their transfer activity for this window but remain in discussions over a possible loan deal for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, although the London club would prefer a permanent sale.

In fact, since American businessman Bill Foley assumed control of Bournemouth in early 2023, the club have invested close to £350m in new signings.
