English football ~ 24/25 run in - Championship | Plymouth v Sheffield United

The Blades seemed set to get their promotion bid back on track after consecutive defeats, with Jesurun Rak-Sakyi's superb first-half strike giving them a 1-0 lead going into the final 10 minutes.

Ryan Hardie then pounced from close range to level for the hosts following a half-cleared corner.

The substitute Tijani then hit a brilliantly controlled volley that earned all three points and provoked scenes of wild joy.

The Argyle celebrations were understandable, given the desperate need for a win that still sees them remain bottom of the table with just four games remaining. Have they now given themselves a chance of staying up?

Sheffield United suffering at the worst possible time

This was a third defeat in a row for them and they have seen now drop well behind leaders Leeds United and Burnley. Both of their rivals won over the weekend so Sheffield United now have it all to do.

Rak-Sakyi's stunning curled shot, two minutes before the end of a forgettable first half, appeared to be the pivotal moment that could elevate an otherwise nervy and dull match.

The on-loan Crystal Palace winger's pace and skill provided the only excitement in the game, culminating in his exceptional goal. After receiving a pass from Ben Hamer, he cut inside Nathanael Ogbeta and found the far corner of the net.

One Sheffield United fan told us: "We couldn't have had a worse week in terms of results. The players have to pick themselves up now. Despite what some people might think, us fans are really behind them."

"They have not been good enough in the last three games. It could be that the pressure and nerves is starting to get to them at the worst possible time."
