What had been billed as a crucial relegation scrap quickly became a one-sided affair, as the Toffees’ electric first half fired them nine points clear of danger. However, Wolves’ 2-0 victory over Aston Villa ensured the Foxes tumbled into the bottom three.

Abdoulaye Doucoure wasted no time in setting the tone, latching onto Jordan Pickford’s long ball and slotting home after just 10.18 seconds—the fastest goal in Everton’s history and the fourth quickest ever recorded in the Premier League. Only Shane Long, Philip Billing, and Ledley King have scored quicker in the competition.

Leicester’s static defending invited further punishment, and Everton duly obliged. Moments later, Beto raced onto James Tarkowski’s through ball and finished past Mads Hermansen to double the lead. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side looked shell-shocked and were fortunate not to fall further behind when Jake O’Brien’s close-range finish was ruled out for offside.

The contest was effectively over before the break, with James Garner threading a precise pass through the Leicester defence for Beto to steer home his second of the night. Everton controlled proceedings after the restart, barely allowing the visitors a sniff, before Iliman Ndiaye wrapped up an emphatic win with a late fourth.

Moyes' Everton revival gathers momentum

David Moyes' return to Goodison Park may have begun in subdued fashion with a home defeat to Aston Villa, but the turnaround since has been nothing short of remarkable. Three straight wins—against Tottenham, Brighton and now Leicester—have propelled Everton up to 15th, easing fears of another relegation scrap.

Goals were in short supply under Sean Dyche, with the Toffees drawing a blank in 12 league games this season. But Moyes has quickly found a way to get them firing again, with his side scoring eight times in three matches.

Abdoulaye Doucoure set the tone with a lightning-fast opener, while Beto, the club’s only fit senior striker, stepped up impressively with two composed finishes. Iliman Ndiaye added a fourth late on, though Everton could easily have won by more—James Garner was denied by Mads Hermansen at the near post, while Doucoure blazed over from close range.

At the other end, they remain resolute. With nine league clean sheets to their name, only Nottingham Forest and Merseyside rivals Liverpool—who await them next—have managed more. Moyes’ Everton are beginning to look like a team with real purpose again.
