Jota returns to Glasgow and Celtic
This could be huge in Celtic's bid to progress in the Champions League
Celtic have successfully re-signed Jota from Rennes, while Kyogo Furuhashi has completed a transfer in the opposite direction.
Jota initially left Celtic in July 2023 for a reported fee of £25 million. However, he struggled to secure a regular starting position at Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League and also faced challenges with a Rennes team that is currently on a five-match losing streak.
The 25-year-old player has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with the Scottish champions, who hold a 10-point lead at the top of the Premiership.
Jota first joined Celtic on loan from Benfica in September 2021. After a successful season, Celtic triggered an option to buy him for a reported fee of £6.5 million the following summer. He played a vital role in helping Celtic secure the treble in the 2022-23 season, scoring 28 goals in 83 appearances before his move to Saudi Arabia.

How good was Jota in his first spell?
He played a crucial role in the squad that won the Treble in the 2022/23 season. Overall, he scored 28 goals in 83 appearances for the Hoops. Now, he has rejoined Celtic and is part of Brendan Rodgers' team during what has already been a great season for them. You can watch some of his best goals from that spell in the video above.
Farewell to Kyogo
The Celtic manager revealed last week that the 30-year-old Kyogo, who moved to Scotland from Vissel Kobe in his homeland, had recently indicated his desire to end his three-year spell at Celtic Park.
The striker has since spoken about the move on Rennes' website: "I was looking for a new challenge in a recognised league. Physically and technically, the league is very competitive. The club is not in the position it has been in for the last few seasons and our objective will be to climb back up the league table."
During four seasons at Celtic, he scored 85 goals in 165 appearances across all competitions. He helped Celtic recover from that awful 2020/2021 season and put the club back at the top of Scottish football.
