Wigan win local derby against Bolton
Bolton Wanderers 0 - 2 Wigan
Wigan maintained their derby dominance over Bolton as goals from Dale Taylor and Thelo Aasgaard secured a 2-0 victory at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in League One.
This win extended Wigan's remarkable unbeaten run against Wanderers to nine matches, a streak that has lasted nine years.
Despite a gap in league standings, Wigan fully deserved their first victory in five matches across all competitions. They took the lead in the 18th minute when Aasgaard's well-timed pass found Taylor, who calmly slotted home with a low left-footed strike from 12 yards.
Bolton, who started the day in seventh place, were jeered off at half-time and were fortunate not to be further behind. Taylor came close to adding a second just before the break, but his effort was saved by Nathan Baxter, with Baba Adeeko unable to convert the rebound from close range.

Although Bolton showed slight improvement in the second half, Sam Tickle kept out a strike from Jordi Osei-Tutu to preserve Wigan's advantage.
Wigan continued to pose a threat, and Aasgaard capped off the performance in the 68th minute. He latched onto James Carragher's cross and fired in from the centre of the box to secure his eighth goal of the season and seal the victory for the visitors.

The home fans once again showed their vocal disapproval towards Evatt. They joined in with chants from the away end of: “You’re getting sacked in the morning!”
Daniel Attenbrough, a Bolton Season Ticket holder, was one of those Bolton. He clearly wasn't very happy with his side's performance. Daniel said: "Whatever tactical strategy was involved in the decisions, it quickly became clear that the plan was failing—significantly, in fact. Wigan immediately moved the ball to the wings in an attempt to draw Bolton’s wide center-backs out of position, forcing their wing-backs to run in the wrong direction. Recent evidence also indicates that we struggle to defend against crosses. This was a massive problem throughout the match."
