QPR extend unbeaten run
QPR 2 - 0 Oxford United
Sam Field bagged his first league goals of the season as Queens Park Rangers extended their unbeaten streak with a victory over Oxford United, whose poor run of form showed no signs of letting up.
Field opened the scoring in the 53rd minute, firing in from close range, and doubled the lead 16 minutes later with a composed finish from 18 yards to secure three vital points for Martà Cifuentes’ side.
The 26-year-old was the standout performer in a match otherwise lacking in quality, particularly during a lacklustre first half between two teams battling to steer clear of the relegation zone.
The win marked QPR’s third victory in an unbeaten five-game run, while Oxford’s struggles deepened, leaving them with just one win in their last 14 matches.
The opening exchanges in west London were high on energy but low on goalmouth action. Oxford’s Idris El Mizouni had the first notable effort in the 22nd minute, but his deflected strike from 20 yards posed no real threat to the hosts’ goal.
At the other end, QPR relied on long throws into the box, but these failed to yield any results.
The first half ended without much to separate the teams, but QPR came out stronger after the break. Four minutes into the second half, Paul Smyth tried to inject some life into proceedings with a long-range effort that flew well over the bar.
QPR’s persistence paid off in the 53rd minute. Smyth delivered a looping cross to the far post, where Rayan Kolli rose highest to nod the ball into Field’s path. Unmarked, the midfielder volleyed home with his left foot to break the deadlock.

Field struck again in the 69th minute after excellent work from Koki Saito. The Japanese winger cut in from the left before laying the ball off for Field, who calmly slotted it past Oxford goalkeeper Jamie Cumming with his right foot.

Saito nearly added a third for QPR six minutes later but saw his curling shot drift wide. Field also came close to completing his hat-trick late on, but his looping header sailed over the crossbar.
QPR’s confidence continues to grow under Cifuentes, while Oxford are left to reflect on another disappointing result.
