Fulham took an early lead in the 19th minute through Alex Iwobi’s stunning long-range strike. However, Cunha, a rare bright spot in an otherwise tough season for Gary O’Neil’s side, equalised in the 31st minute with a poacher’s finish.

The Brazilian forward then turned provider early in the second half, setting up Joao Gomes to give Wolves the lead. The pair reversed roles later, as Cunha netted his second with a spectacular strike from the edge of the area.

Fulham’s misery deepened when Joachim Andersen picked up an injury after all their substitutes had been used, leaving them to finish with 10 men. Wolves capitalised on the advantage, with Gonçalo Guedes coming off the bench to seal the victory with a fourth goal.

The result lifts Wolves out of the relegation zone, moving them to nine points, while Fulham drop to ninth in the table.

Fulham v Wolves - Fans watch Fulham on the attack

The hosts started brightly at a damp and blustery Craven Cottage and had a golden opportunity to take an early lead. However, Raul Jimenez, facing his former club, astonishingly struck the bar from just a few yards out – a miss that seemed harder to achieve than scoring.

Marco Silva’s side didn’t have to wait long to make amends. In the 20th minute, Alex Iwobi unleashed a sensational strike, curling the ball into the top left corner from the edge of the box, sending the home crowd into wild celebrations.

But against the run of play, Wolves found an equaliser just after the half-hour mark. Matheus Cunha, in red-hot form, brought down Mario Lemina’s lofted pass with exquisite control before deftly flicking the ball past Bernd Leno, silencing the jubilant home fans.

Cunha was at the heart of things again early in the second half, orchestrating a slick passing move around Fulham’s box. His clever pass found fellow Brazilian João Gomes, who slotted home with a calm, low finish into the far corner, turning the game on its head.

The man of the match, Cunha, then delivered the moment of the night with a breathtaking strike from 25 yards, bending the ball beyond a diving Leno to make it 3-1. Substitute Gonçalo Guedes rounded off the scoring in stoppage time, giving the final scoreline a rather harsh gloss for Fulham.

View from the away end

It was great to watch O'Neil celebrating enthusiastically in front of the away fans at full-time. With five consecutive games coming up against bottom-half teams. Me and the other fans are confident of hauling themselves further away from danger before Christmas.

Even when we were losing all of those matches, we were still confident that we could turn things around quickly. Fans can now see a bit of momentum building.
