Premier League: Controversial penalty wins it for West Ham
West Ham United 2 - 1 Manchester United
Manchester United will be wondering how they have lost this game. Jarrod Bowen scored a penalty in injury time to condemn The Red Devils to a 2-1 defeat.
A closer look at what happened at the London Stadium
That late penalty from Jarrod Bowen handed Manchester United a 2-1 defeat in the Premier League, easing the pressure on West Ham’s manager, Julen Lopetegui.
Casemiro had briefly revived United’s hopes of taking a point, heading in with less than ten minutes to go to cancel out Crysencio Summerville’s 74th-minute goal.
Controversy struck with just three minutes remaining when referee David Coote was called to the pitchside monitor by the Video Assistant Referee to review Matthijs de Ligt’s challenge on Danny Ings in the box.
Despite protests from United’s players, who claimed a handball by Ings, Coote awarded the penalty, and Bowen kept his cool to slot the ball past André Onana.

Manchester United had dominated possession and created several chances in the first half at London Stadium, but their lack of clinical finishing proved costly as they failed to capitalise on their opportunities.
After a subdued first half, West Ham emerged stronger after the break and piled pressure on United’s defence. Their persistence paid off when Summerville pounced to steer Ings’ mishit shot into the net.
The defeat leaves Manchester United in 14th place with just three wins from their opening nine matches, adding further pressure on manager Erik ten Hag. Meanwhile, the victory is a significant statement for West Ham, who now move above United in the table after a challenging start to the season.
Pressure builds on Ten Hag
It was a poor day at the office in front of goal for Ten Hag's side, who should have been out of reach when the referee blew the half-time whistle.
Alejandro Garnacho was a constant threat on the left wing, making it a tough afternoon for former team-mate Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and he nearly opened the scoring in the second minute as he rattled the hosts' crossbar.
The Argentine drilled a shot wide shortly after, while Diogo Dalot missed an open goal after cleverly flicking the ball past Lukasz Fabianski.
Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford both had efforts smothered by Fabianski, while Bruno Fernandes lofted a header over the bar as the visitors continued to dominate the opening 45 minutes.
The crossbar worked in West Ham's favour again when it stopped a defensive header from Edson Alvarez from going in and a brilliant one-handed save by Fabianski ensured Casemiro didn't head home just before the break.
With the club winning just once in their last eight games, there will undoubtedly be more questions over Ten Hag's future at the club.

My reaction
As a United fan in the away end, I am so annoyed with that result. We should've been two or three up when they went 1-0 ahead. In the second half, we forced the play, which allowed them to gain momentum. When you’re losing 1-0, it’s essential for the team to display strong character and resilience to bounce back. It felt unfair the way we conceded the penalty.
