Premier League: Palace hold Chelsea

Chelsea 1 - 1  Crystal Palace

Eberechi Eze scored a brilliant equaliser as Crystal Palace held Chelsea to a draw at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea, who hammered Wolves 6-2 last week, dominated the first half. Cole Palmer came close with a shot that went just wide, and Dean Henderson made a superb save to deny Noni Madueke, before Nicolas Jackson opened the scoring.

Jackson finished off a swift Chelsea counter-attack by tapping in Palmer's cross at the near post.

Palace were lucky not to be down to 10 men when Will Hughes, already on a yellow card, avoided further punishment for a foul on Palmer.

Shortly after, the Eagles fans were celebrating as Eze curled a lovely shot past Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

Sanchez then made a fantastic save to deny Daichi Kamada's powerful effort and prevent Palace from taking the lead. In stoppage time, Jackson had a chance to win it for Chelsea, but Henderson saved his effort after he went through on goal.

The draw marks Crystal Palace's first point of the season following two consecutive defeats, while Chelsea have four points from their opening three matches.

What do the Chelsea fans think?

Lewis, a Chelsea fan living in Greater Manchesterspoke about what might gone wrong for Chelsea. He said: "We made a late push to score a winning goal, showing some urgency late in the game, but we were unable to break through Palace's packed defense. Jackson had a fantastic opportunity in stoppage time but couldn't beat the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation."

Lauren, a Chelsea fan, added: "I can't believe it. Yet another disappointing match with the defense struggling once again. It's not improving at all. We really need a proven striker who can convert the half-chances that Jackson seems to struggle with. Does anyone in the management see these two critical issues, or are they simply choosing to ignore them?"

Palace fans happy with a point

Jamie, a Palace fan, told us: That was a promising performance: I believe we should have pushed for the win, but it was a decent point away. I'm looking forward to dominating them at Selhurst with the new signings playing.

Peter, another Palace fan, added: "It has been a while since we last beat Chelsea, and considering that they won 6-2 against Wolves in their last match, I was not expecting much. Most of our new players were also unavailable. However, our team showed great determination and managed to earn a point. I am looking forward to better results when we can field a full-strength team."
