The Big Discussion: Players to watch in the EFL

As we prepare for another summer of teams across England and beyond spending even more money, clubs will be looking to explore the occasional bargain.

Will any of these players come from the EFL? This article will explore some of the players that clubs from across Europe might be looking at.

Players to watch in the EFL

Sam Bell – Bristol City

While Bristol City’s season was a bit up and down, Bell’s performances were highly impressive throughout. Numerous spells in non-league football helped Bell develop his game, and Bristol City’s patience in nurturing the young forward appears to be paying off. His versatility makes him an attractive option for clubs after an adaptable forward player, with Bell also occupying the left side of the pitch. Bristol City fans would be sad to see him leave to the Premier League but they will probably admit that he deserves a chance to play at that higher level.

Jaden Philogene – Hull City

Jaden Philogene hogged the limelight at Hull City and was in scintillating form for the Tigers throughout the 2023/2024 season. Since leaving Aston Villa, he has benefitted from playing every week. He is clearly hungry for more growth after failing to make the breakthrough at Unai Emery’s club. A powerful winger with plenty of pace, Jaden Philogene’s career is well worth keeping tabs on, both in 2024 and beyond.

Crysencio Summerville – Leeds United

Whether or not Leeds United will be able to retain the services of Crysencio Summerville remains to be seen, he was a threat in almost every game last season and struck up a formidable partnership with Georginio Rutter in particular. With goals and assists to his name, Crysencio Summerville was one of the most potent attacking players in the whole of the EFL. Since Leeds failed to win promotion back to the Premier League, many believe that Summerville will leave the Yorkshire giants.

EFL: Southampton will return to the Premier League (eurosuperfootball.blogspot.com)

The video below from YouTuber 360edition contains some of his recent great moments. Do you think he'll be able to perform like this in the Premier League.

Jack Clarke - Sunderland

A versatile forward who can play across the front line, Clarke has tremendous ball skills, a great passing range and a knack for killer quick interchanges down the channels. Twenty-goal contributions in his first season as a senior regular told its own story. In the 2023/2024 campaign, he improved his rate of scoring, netting 15 goals in 42 appearances. Sunderland fans will be concerned that their failure to get promoted might result in Clarke moving to a Premier League side.

Baylee Dipepa - Port Vale

In his first season as a professional, Dipepa scored three goals in 26 appearances. Despite his positive performances, Vale were relegated to League Two and it is expected that he will move on to bigger and better things. He has since been linked with moves to Manchester United and West Ham. This would be clearly be a huge jump for the player but there are many within the game that believe he is more than capable of performing at that higher level.
