Premier League: Arsenal boost title hopes

 Arsenal 5 - 0 Chelsea

Arsenal gave their Premier League hopes a huge lift with a 5-0 thrashing over Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal 5 - 0 Chelsea

Goals from Trossard and two each from Ben White and Kai Havertz saw Arsenal cruise to the win. The home fans were in dreamland.

Arsenal fans may have seen this meeting with Chelsea with a degree of nerves trepidation after they slipped badly and were outplayed by Aston Villa in their last league game at home. At times in that match, it looked like the tension of life at the top got to them.

Coupled with the Champions League exit against Harry Kane's Bayern Munich, Arsenal fans were getting worried that they'd end the season with nothing. However, they looked back to the best in this and will start looking forward to every match again.

The best reaction to this thrashing

Frank, an Arsenal fan, told us on Facebook: "That was a fantastic performance from Arsenal. We looked like scoring every time we went forward. I am very excited about the rest of the season. Even though City keeps winning, I think we can win the league."

Paul, another Arsenal fan, told us: "Arsenal put on a show! It always felt like we were about to score. I now can't contain my excitement for the rest of the season and believe we have what it takes to clinch the Premier League title. I was also shocked at how poor Chelsea played."

Lauren, a Chelsea fan, was not happy with this defeat and the performance.  She said: "It's disheartening to see such a drop in quality from Chelsea. This squad doesn't seem up to par, and it's tough to watch.I am really not happy that we are on course for another season where we finish outside the European places."
