Premier League: Bournemouth beat Newcastle

AFC Bournemouth 2 - 0 Newcastle United

Dominic Solanke scored twice against Newcastle to give his side a deserved win.

Despite Bournemouth squandering numerous opportunities in the first half, Solanke finally broke the deadlock after an hour, seizing a lucky bounce off Joe Willock to calmly slot the ball in from close quarters.

Solanke wasn't done yet, doubling Bournemouth's lead 13 minutes later by flicking in a rebound from Luis Sinisterra's header that had hit the post.

It was a tough break for Newcastle, missing key players like the suspended Bruno Guimaraes and the injured Callum Wilson, with Miguel Almiron also forced off in the first half. The match showcased Solanke's prowess and added to the woes for the visiting side.

In such a close season at the top and bottom, this one match could have a huge impact on both teams chances. It's only one game but everything counts!

Frank, a Bournemouth Season Ticket holder, said: "It was a good day for us, particularly in midfield. With two forwards and a solid defence, they were able to push forward and create chances, which we must start taking. It was a fantastic performance and it feels like we're in a great place entering the international break. Big shout outs to Ryan Christie, Semenyo and, of course, Dominic Solanke. If we can keep going in this direction, and put our shooting boots on, we'll be climbing before we know it. More of these performances will generate the results required."

Jamie, a Newcastle fan, wasn't happy with what he saw against Bournemouth. He said: "A very disappointing result. Before Bournemouth scored, I thought I'd settle for a point under the circumstances. Now we're up with the big boys, and we're finding out what it's all about, but we can't let our heads go. It was only our eighth game in nearly a month and a half. The only team of note we have played in the Premier League is Arsenal. Howe cannot make the excuse of too many games. We have also been found wanting in Europe."
