Premier League: Reaction as City forced to hold on against Forest

Manchester City 2-0 Nottingham Forest

After Rodri's red card, Manchester City were forced to hang on to win Nottingham Forest, but they still maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season.

Phil Foden and Erling Haaland had given City a 2-0 lead at the break, but a dramatic change took place 27 seconds after the restart.

After placing his hands around Morgan Gibbs-White's throat during a tangle near the corner flag, Rodri was shown a straight red card for violent conduct, with VAR upholding the referee's decision.

The second half was a different story to the previous 45 minutes. City had to dig in to protect their lead - and they mostly succeeded in keeping Forest at arm's length.

Let's explore all the best reaction

Kieran, a Nottingham Forest who was in the away end, said: "Knowing who we are playing and the level they play at must have made it difficult to prepare for and play in that environment. The players must have been disappointed with the goals they conceded, of course. After the poor first half, we did okay in the second half but should have taken more advantage of having the extra player."

Peter, another Forest fan, provided us with an interesting statistic: "I never expected us to pick up anything but it's annoying that we didn't at least score a goal considering we were playing against ten men. It's crazy that we are now winless in their nine Premier League games against sides starting the day top of the table (drawing 3, losing 6). only Charlton (13) and Burnley (11) have played more such games in the competition without winning."

Paul, a Forest fan from Manchester, added: "Taking the time to reflect on last season, four points were earned from seven games - with a painful goal difference - the breakthrough this season is evident. It was a pity that we didn't do enough against ten players."
