Midfielder Adam Randell restored parity with a low right-footed shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box before Joe Edwards fired the Pilgrims ahead four minutes later.

Finn Azaz finally made sure the title would head to Devon when his right-footed shot from the edge of the box nestled in the top corner.

The win meant Argyle ended the season on 101 points, three clear of Ipswich Town.

Some of the best reaction.

Plymouth manager Steven Schumacher told the local media: We've fought so hard week in, week out, since the last day of last season when we just fell short of the play-offs. Everybody to a man, all the staff, all the players, everybody, has given everything that they've got and we've managed to become champions, and we deserve it."

Darren, a Plymouth fan, told us: ""Fantastic day, fantastic season, this is one of my favourite days watching the league. If we go up as champions with 101 points is an unbelievable achievement and everyone is absolutely buzzing. We has seen off challenges from some big clubs and have probably gone under the radar a little without any recognition. Today, we have proved that we are the best."

Matt, another Argyle fan, added: "What an amazing team and structure we've built. I couldn't be prouder to be from the city that bleeds green!"

Port Vale ended the season in 18th place, having won just three times since mid-January. Their fans will be concerned at how their season has ended. They will know changes are neede if they want to stay in League One next season.

This was the reaction of the Port Vale boss after their season concluded. Mr W commented on the video: "We lack vision, creativity, heart and determination."

Vale fan Andrew tweeted: "Something has got to happen at Vale. Get more League One players in and strong ball ethic of booting the ball instead of dribble pass."

Fleetwood Town 2 - 2 Ipswich Town

Already romoted Ipswich had to settle for second place in League One despite topping 100 goals for the season at Highbury. The away side had knew they could create EFL history by becoming the first team ever to clock up 100 points and 100 goals in a season. Despite missing out on the title, Ipswich fans will be delighted with how their season has gone and will be excited to play in the Championship next season.
