PL News: Antonio Conte leaves Tottenham Hotspur by mutual agreement

It has been confirmed that Head Coach Antonio Conte has left Tottenham Hotspur by mutual agreement.

Conte leaves Spurs

Cristian Stellini will take the team as Acting Head Coach for the remainder of the season, along with Ryan Mason as Assistant Head Coach.

This comes just over a week after Conte's extraordinary rant where he appeared to call out players and the Spurs board.

Let's explore some of the best reaction to this announcement

Daniel Levy, Spurs Chairman, gave his thoughts on the club website: “We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place. We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our Club and amazing, loyal supporters.”

Greg, a Spurs fan from Halifax, told us: "I totally agree with all that Conte said regarding the players and the lack of silverware since our last League Cup success. In my opinion, Daniel Levy needs to go, and go now. Maybe under new leadership Spurs could develop as a football team."

Neil also spoke about the potential next steps: "I never thought Conte was right for Spurs, but he did create a lot of excitement at the time. We needed a coach to work and build a team. Mauricio Pochettino may be the right man again. Julian Nagelsmann and Thomas Frank also fit the bill."

What's next for the club?

Who could take over at the club after this season has finished?

Some reports have suggested that Julian Nagelsmann might get a shot at the role. He is out of a job after being dismissed by Bayern Munich. This is a man that will still be in high demand despite the events of the last few weeks. A more left-field option could be Luis Enrique. This is another big name that has managed at the highest level of club football. His philosophy of possession-based football would fit with Spurs fans who have grown tired of Conte’s pragmatic style.

Some other potential candidates include the likes of Thomas Frank, Ange Postecoglou, Oliver Glasner, Arne Slot and Vincent Kompany.
