UCL: Manchester United 1 - 1 Young Boys

Manchester United signed off their Champions League group stage campaign with a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against Young Boys

With qualification already secured, Ralf Rangnick took the game as an opportunity to see more of his players in action.

He made 11 changes from the United team that started his first match against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

United took the lead with a superb strike from Mason Greenwood after just eight minutes.Young Boys then equalised late in the first half.

Given the changes, this was probably a decent draw for United and the Reds can now look ahead to who they face in the next round.

More reaction from Old Trafford

The United interim boss told the club's website: “We shouldn’t be too strict. I was fully aware with this formation and line-up, the players haven’t played together like this. I think the first half-hour was okay, we scored a beautiful goal, we had another two great opportunities. Juan Mata should have scored actually and the same with Amad.

"At that time, we should have been 2-0, if not 3-0 up and then we made the mistake to get less proactive. We were too deep, we sent several pressing invitations including the goal we conceded. In the second half, it could have been in the end 4-4."

You can see footage from the game in the video below. From BT Sport.

Charlie Savage was one of many academy players to make their debut for the club. He tweeted: "Delighted to have made my first team debut for Manchester United in the Champions League. I would like to thank all the academy staff for their support over the last 14 years and the manager for putting his trust in me tonight."

His dad was also very proud.
