The move would heighten pressure on owner Dejphon Chansiri to consider selling the club.
The club is already under five separate EFL embargoes, having failed to pay staff wages on time in five of the last seven months.

A winding-up petition is a formal court application made by a creditor to force an insolvent company into compulsory liquidation. With Sheffield Wednesday believed to owe HMRC £1 million, the authority is thought to be preparing to take that step.
While administration is not certain, the move raises the real possibility that Dejphon Chansiri’s tenure at the club may be nearing its end.
