Liverpool had earlier turned down a £58.6m offer for the Colombia international, but the Bundesliga club returned with improved terms to seal the deal.
DĂaz, 28, was absent from Liverpool’s 4-2 pre-season defeat by AC Milan in Hong Kong, with speculation over his future intensifying in recent days. He has now been granted permission to leave the club’s tour and travel to Europe to undergo a medical.
The forward joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 for an initial £37m and has since scored 41 goals in 148 appearances. His 17 goals in all competitions last season marked the most prolific campaign of his career, helping Liverpool to their first Premier League title since 2020.

Arne Slot’s side have already reinforced their attack this summer with the signings of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, and remain interested in Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.
Bayern claimed their 34th Bundesliga title last season, scoring 99 league goals, but endured disappointment in cup competitions, exiting the Champions League at the quarter-final stage and the DFB-Pokal in the last 16. DĂaz is expected to bolster their front line, with Jamal Musiala sidelined for an extended period after sustaining a broken leg and dislocated ankle during the Club World Cup.
Why do Bayern want to sign Diaz?
It is not difficult to see why Bayern Munich have been drawn to Luis DĂaz.
The Colombia forward enjoyed his most efficient Premier League season to date in 2024–25, registering a shot conversion rate of 18.3%. It was a marked improvement and highlighted a growing composure in front of goal.
DĂaz also impressed across a range of other metrics. He narrowly missed out on the Premier League’s top 10 for combined goals and assists, finishing with 18. He recorded 30 shots on target, created 56 chances and completed 52 dribbles, underlining his threat both as a creator and finisher.
What may have particularly appealed to Bayern, however, is DĂaz’s contribution off the ball. He won possession in the final third 22 times over the campaign, more than any other Liverpool player relative to minutes played. It is that blend of attacking flair and relentless work-rate that makes him a compelling addition for the Bundesliga champions.
