The 38-year-old marked his 500th and final appearance in a Leicester shirt with his 10th goal of the season, helping the Foxes to a comfortable victory over the visitors. The club’s last remaining link to the iconic 2016 Premier League title win, Vardy confirmed he will depart at the end of the season, opting not to feature in next Sunday’s final game away at Bournemouth.
Instead, he signed off in front of a packed home crowd who paid tribute to one of the club’s all-time greats. Thirteen years to the day since joining from Fleetwood Town for £1 million, Vardy was honoured with a guard of honour as he left the pitch with 10 minutes to go. Supporters were handed flags reading ‘Thank you Vards’, while giant banners featuring the striker adorned both ends of the ground.
Vardy gave the occasion the perfect moment, coolly slotting past Alex Palmer in the 28th minute after a surging run from James Justin. Kasey McAteer added a second after the break, firing in from a tight angle to seal the points.

Ipswich had their opportunities to spoil the party, with Leif Davis hitting the post and Omari Hutchinson sending a shot over the bar just before half-time. McAteer also struck the woodwork for Leicester in the first half.
But the day belonged to Vardy, a talismanic figure whose legacy at Leicester will stand the test of time.
Leicester fans remember Vardy
Very few, if any, could have envisaged the impact Jamie Vardy would make at the King Power Stadium, especially after five goals in his first season in the Championship.
He scored 24 goals to win Leicester the league in 2015/2016 and he went on to earn the Premier League's Golden Boot in 2019–20, becoming the oldest player to lift that award.
Peter, a Leicester fan, said: "No fan of our club will ever forget his contribution to our Premier League title. That will never happen again."
Darren just wished Vardy's last season had ended better, saying: "We have been very poor on the eyes most of the season, but I cannot complain about the achievements which we all never thought would happen. Vardy deserved a better final season for this club."
