The club recently shared the details of its plans for what will be a momentous final home game of the season, as the club and supporters prepare to end an era at Goodison Park.
Plans for the historic visit of Southampton on Sunday 18 May include pre-match activity in and around the ground, and a post-match ceremony that will bring together current players and Blues greats to celebrate 133 years of the Grand Old Lady.
Before kick-off, the fan group known as 'The 1878s' will stage a special coach welcome with the aim of creating a vibrant atmosphere as the players arrive at the stadium.

Following the final whistle, Evertonians will be asked to remain in their seats for a special on-pitch celebration that will include guest presenters, appearances from current and former players, live musical performances, and specially curated big screen content that captures the spirit, memories and history of the stadium. The ceremony, called ‘End of an Era’, will last for approximately one hour, and once it concludes, all fans will be asked to leave the stadium.
More unforgettable Goodison Park moments in the Premier League era
Some of the most unforgettable scenes at Goodison Park during the Premier League years have come when Everton have clawed their way back from the brink of relegation.
The first great escape came in the 1993–94 season. Having dropped into the bottom three after the penultimate round of fixtures, Everton went 2–0 down at home to Wimbledon on the final day. What followed became part of club folklore. A thunderous strike from Barry Horne gave the home side hope, before Graham Stuart struck twice to complete a remarkable 3–2 comeback and preserve their top-flight status.
Fast forward to the 2021–22 campaign and another survival story unfolded. Trailing Crystal Palace by two goals, Everton once again found a way. Dominic Calvert-Lewin's late header sealed a 3–2 win and ensured safety, sparking wild celebrations around Goodison.
There's also a match taking place
To the relief of Everton supporters, the final few matches at Goodison Park carried little jeopardy, despite the club appearing to be in serious relegation trouble only a few months ago.

The return of David Moyes has injected renewed purpose into the side. Everton have become far more resilient in 2025, both at home and on the road. While the football in their latest fixture may not be centre stage, they are still expected to come through as strong favourites.
Their win last weekend lifted them to 13th place, leading a group of sides hovering above the relegation scrap. With the promoted trio continuing to struggle, Everton have opened up a comfortable cushion between themselves and the bottom three.
