Middlesbrough 3 - 4 Leeds United

Promotion-chasing Leeds United climbed to second in the Championship after a thrilling and sensational victory at Middlesbrough that ended their three-game winless run.

Middlesbrough and Leeds play out a thriller

The match has left us all with one question. Which two out of Leeds, Leicester and Ipswich will be successful at the end of the season. We have previously examined who's getting promoted to the Premier League?

Let's explore a night of drama in Middlesbrough

Boro took an early lead when Isaiah Jones tucked in a loose ball, but Leeds quickly levelled through Crysencio Summerville's penalty.

Leeds were then in front just four minutes later when Patrick Bamford scored Junior Firpo's wicked cross from the left. In-form Emmanuel Latte Lath then scored for Boro to level the proceedings with a thumping right-footed finish from 18 yards.

Willy Gnonto finished well after being played in by Summerville to put Leeds 3-2 up at the break, although replays showed the Italy forward had been slightly offside when the pass was played.

There was more to come after a sensational first-half

Summerville looked to have put Leeds in the clear with a classy effort after being played in down the left and cutting back on to his right before Latte Lath's header set up a tense final few minutes for Leeds and their fans.

The win has moved the away side back up to second. However, they have now played a game more than Ipswich Town. Whatever happens now, the race for promotion to the Premier League keeps providing more drama

Let's explore all the best fan reaction

JP, a Leeds United fan, said: "That was a fantastic game of football. We looked awesome going forward and recovered well from those poor results. Fair play to Middlesbrough for contributing so much on the night."

Paul, a Middlesbrough fan, was quite happy with his side's performance despite the defeat: "I enjoyed that match. I thought it was a decent football match, and we certainly played our part. There were many things for the team to take pride in. Overall, I'm pleased with the performance, but disappointed with the outcome. Many of the fans were unhappy with the additional time added at the end and the offside goal. You could see the coaching staff urging the players to work together as a cohesive unit and maintain the defensive line, and you have to rely on the linesman for that. It was commendable defending, but unfortunately, the attacker was offside by a yard."
