Jamie Vardy scored after 21 seconds to set Leicester City up for a comfortable victory at Southampton.

Leicester went in at half-time 3-1 in front after goals from McAteer (18'minutes) and Ndidi (45'+3minutes) put them in a comfortable position. A goal from Edozie gave them some brief hope as they temporarily reduced the deficit.

Former Juventus forward Mavididi missed a huge opportunity just after the hour but made amends with the night's best goal.

Many Southampton fans are concerned about the goals they were conceding. Their miserable night ended with Kamaldeen Sulemana receiving a straight red card in the closing seconds of the game for a clumsy tackle on James Justin.

@gavintsang5778 commented on these highlights: "I expect both Southampton and Leicester will be fighting for promotion come end of the season.  But having watched some Championship football this season so far, I consider Ipswich to be the best and the most impressive team in terms of strong defending and attacking flair. Therefore, I believe Ipswich are the team most likely to win the 2023-24 Championship."

Let's explore more of the best reaction

One Southampton fan told us: "We had spells of decent play in the first half and at the beginning of the second. However, we often looked muddled and confused at the back."

Robert, another fan of the home side, posted on Facebook: "Well, it's early days but it looks like we have found another clueless Saints manager. If we don't make a decision about the direction of the club then the bad news is that we aren't going up. The good news for us fans is that we probably won't get relegated again."

Jamie, another Southampton fan, had a similar view when talking about his side's manager. He said: " The manager doesn't grasp the full potential of our squad. It's high time he stepped aside and spared us from this suffering. The unfortunate truth is that our chances of promotion are slim. Maybe, it's time to start thinking long term."

Danny, a Leicester fan, added: " From the perspectives of the players and manager, It is important to send a message that they are a team good on the ball. In addition, it felt like we were working hard off the ball."

This Leicester fan was delighted with the performance. He tweeted: The finishing was on point man. I was previously worried about this and felt we maybe didn't have the players to put in this type of performance. Our defenders also managed to keep out Adam Armstrong as well who is one of the best attacking players in the Championship."
