Transfer News: Harry Kane signs for Bayern Munich

There has been a huge transfer announcement

Harry Kane, the England captain, has completed a move to Bayern Munich, the German champions, agreeing to a four year contract.

This transfer marks the conclusion of a record-setting spell with Tottenham Hotspur.

The transfer has been completed for an initial sum of around 100 million euros (£86.4 million), and there are additional provisions for performance-related bonuses.

For Spurs. he has etched his name into the record books as their leading goal scorer of all time. He has netted an impressive 280 goals in a total of 435 appearances for the club.

Kane has won the Premier League Golden Boot on three occasions - in 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2020-21. With 213 goals from 320 games in the English top flight, he needed just 48 more to break Alan Shearer's Premier League scoring record.

Kane, who is also England's all-time leading scorer with 58 international goals and was the top scorer at the 2018 World Cup, has never won a major trophy with club or country. You'd imagine that he'll win at least one trophy in Germany this season.

He made his debut in Bayern's Super Cup defeat against RB Leipzig.

The best reaction from Germany

Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen told the media: "He is a perfect fit for us and the club's DNA in terms of both football and character.

"World-class centre forwards have always been an important factor when FC Bayern has celebrated its greatest triumphs, and we're convinced that Harry Kane will continue this success story."

Andy is a huge Bayern fan, he told us: "This is a fantastic signing, he can lead us to another Champions League title."

What are the Spurs fans saying?

Nicholas is a Tottenham Season Ticket holder, spoke with us about potential replacements: "Within our ranks, we possess Richarlison, who could excel if provided with consistent opportunities within the team. Additionally, there's Dane Scarlett, a promising talent developed within our youth academy. Could we not afford him a similar opportunity to the one Kane received in his youth?

"In a similar vein, Troy Parrett, who has been consistently loaned out, also deserves consideration. This approach seems more prudent than investing substantial sums in forwards who might not seamlessly integrate."

Ryan, also a Spurs fan, added: "There's no need to embark on an extravagant spending spree akin to what occurred after Gareth Bale's departure.

"Let's exercise an element of prudence. This would Postecoglou the time to acclimate and endeavor to construct a foundation similar to the era when Pochettino established his legacy, even though it feels like a distant memory now!"
