Premier League: Ten-man West Ham stun Chelsea

 West Ham United 3 - 1 Chelsea

It was a memorable afternoon at the London Stadium for West Ham fans.

West Ham 3 - 1 Chelsea

Even though West Ham United played nearly 30 minutes with 10 men, they completed a rousing London derby against Chelsea.

In the 67th minute, Hammers defender Nayef Aguerd, who opened the scoring with a header, was sent off for his second bookable offence.

However, Chelsea couldn't force an equaliser and conceded a late third through Lucas Paqueta's penalty in the fifth minute of added time.

How it all happened

Agued scored for West Ham in the 7th minute to give the home side the lead. In front of a passionate crowd at The London Stadium, Chelsea then dominated possession but they struggled to take advantage until Carney Chukwuemeka scored his first goal for the Blues to make it 1-1.

Enzo Fernandez wasted a chance to put them ahead when his penalty was saved by Alphonse Areola.

With a powerful angled strike in the 53rd minute, Michail Antonio put West Ham back in front. That Paqueta penalty in stoppage time secured what will be a memorable victory for the home fans.

Some of the best reaction

What else are West Ham fans saying?

Jamie Pugh, a West Ham United Season Ticket holder, said: "Maintaining focus and adherence to the game plan can be extremely challenging, particularly when facing Chelsea and trying to hold on to a lead. We went to great lengths to secure the valuable three points."

Phillip, another West Ham fan, added: "We took our chances and defended so well. I honestly feel that we are going to frustrate many teams in the Premier League this campaign. It is still early days obviously, you'd have to say that both new signings looked good. COYI."

Chelsea fans aren't happy

Ryan posted this on Facebook: Another difficult and disappointing season ahead, given we can’t even beat West Ham. I fear that the top four can already be forgotten. Having gone 2-1 up with 30 minutes left, we all thought that it was game over. The best solution for Mudryk would be for him to be loaned out. He clearly has the talent but perhaps lacks the confidence and composure. "

Lauren came up with an interesting solution to their poor start to the season: "Perhaps it's time to give Lukaku a game. "
