UCL: Inter hold out against Porto

 FC Porto 0 - 0 Inter Milan (Aggregate: 0 - 1 )

Inter Milan fans are dreaming of Champions League success once again.

Porto 0 - 0 Inter Milan

The Italian side reached the Champions League quarterfinals for the first time in more than a decade after surviving a late barrage of pressure at Porto to escape with a 0-0 draw which took them through 1-0 on aggregate.

It was a disappointing night for the home fans at a sold-out Dragao stadium as the Portuguese champions tried in vain to wipe out the narrow deficit from the first leg in Italy.

A disciplined Inter side seemed content to hold onto their lead and did not face a serious threat until added time.

Defender Pepe was then dismissed for a second yellow card and Inter joined city rivals AC Milan in the quarterfinal draw. This is the first time they have both reached the last eight since 2006.

Porto fans will have been very disappointed that they didn't progress to the next round. This would have been seen as a very winnable tie for them.

We managed to speak with Jamie, a Porto fan that lives in the United Kingdom. He said: "I thought that was a really good opportunity for us to progress. Thoughts turn back to the domestic matches now."

Despite this match coming on the same night as Manchester City's thrashing of German side RB Leipzig, many fans from across the United Kingdom watched this match.

James McCarthy posted on YouTube: "Some of my first memories of football are of Ronaldo playing for Inter in the 90s. They were one of the best teams to watch. It's good to see them back where they belong!"

Liam watched the match from his apartment in Manchester. He told us: "It was a great and fascinating tacttical battle at times. I'm glad Inter Milan progressed. Nobody will want to meet them in the next round of the competition."

The post gives us the thoughts of Marko Grujic. He said: "The fans gave us a lot of support. They understood that we gave everything to win this game and created a fantastic atmosphere. We are disappointed that we did not give them a joy."
