PL news: Burnley sack manager Sean Dyche
This is an announcement that has shocked the Premier League
Burnley have sacked manager Sean Dyche with eight games left of their season.
The Clarets have lost five of their last six top-flight games and are 18th and four points from safety. Dyche was the Premier League's longest-serving manager, having taken over at Turf Moor in October 2012.
Reaction
Former Manchester United defender and Sky pundit tweeted: "Well done to Sean Dyche for doing one of the great managerial jobs in PL history. He had a bantamweight budget and yet punched hard against the heavyweights for years."

Former Burnley midfielder Paul Weller was full of praise for Dyche: "He has been backed by the board for so long, so to do it so late in the season is a really big surprise.
"To do it so late in the week is leaving it really tight because there's a massive game coming up against West Ham on Sunday. There's a big eight games left and we need somebody in there quick."
What a joke!

If you had given him a decent budget you would never have had a worry about getting relegated. https://t.co/uIG7bL2nUl
Burnley chairman Alan Pace gave a reason for the sacking. He said it was "an incredibly difficult decision" to part company with the 50-year-old, but "we feel a change is needed".
The Premier League Panel Twitter account posted: "Dyche getting the blame for years of underinvestment which was only partially addressed like a plaster over a gaping wound with Cornet & Weghorst. Weghorst only came after selling a player too, more was needed to refresh the squad. Miracle that he kept Burnley in the PL this long."
