Scotland: Rangers sign Amad Diallo on loan

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has joined Rangers on a six-month loan.

The 19-year-old Ivory Coast winger has made only nine appearances since his switch from Atalanta last year. His only goal for the club came in a Europa League match against AC Milan.

Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson was delighted with the temporary addition and described it as "a really exciting signing for us".

He added: "Amad and United had an array of options this window across the Premier League and in Europe."

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst told his club's website: "He is a player who I have been aware of for some time and when the opportunity to sign him came up, we were very keen to make it happen.

"He will add a lot to our squad and provide even more competition for the players in the forward areas."

More reaction to the transfer

The player himself tweeted: "'I'm happy to be here, can't wait to get started."

One Rangers told us: "He is signing for the biggest club in Scotland. The pressure will be on him but he should thrive. WATP"

This was the tweet that announced the signing.

One Manchester United fan replied to this tweet saying: " All the best Amad, go and smash it lad and pick up plenty of invaluable experience. Come back ready to get into the United team in the summer."

The young attacker has an interesting few weeks coming up at the club. Rangers have an interesting Europa League game to come up against Borussia Dortmund. However, there's a small matter of a match against Celtic to come up next week. A few months ago, NewsBall UK discussed some of the most memorable moments between the two clubs.
