Premier League reaction: Manchester United 0 - 5 Liverpool

Let's have a look at all the best reaction from Old Trafford as Liverpool thrashed Manchester United.

Before the game, nobody was anticipating what was going to happen over the 90 minutes or so.

Reaction from those involved

The Manchester United captain Harry Maguire spoke with the club's social media accounts after the game. Since he returned from injury, United have conceded eleven goals in three matches. They are clearly missing their summer signing from Real Madrid.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Liverpool manage Jurgen Klopp added: "What can I say? Did I expect that? No.

"The result is insane. It is special but we don't celebrate like crazy, we have respect for the opponents. We were lucky in some moments, United are not in their best moment."

This was Liverpool's biggest win at Old Trafford since the 2008/2009 season. On that occasion, they 'only' won 4-1. Despite that defeat, United went on to win the Premier League at the end of that campaign. They even reached the Champions League campaign. Very few people expect them to do that again.

We'll support you evermore

Despite the horror show on the pitch, many United fans did actually remain inside the ground to show a sense of defiance and support for the club. They were booed off the pitch by some after a disastrous first 45 minutes that saw them concede four times.

Several United fans were speaking on the United We Stand podcast about the future direction of the club: "I'm sick of it! We have some fantastic players but we haven't got a team."

Another added: "The standards just aren't being met by the club and the team."

What next for United?

This is impossible to say. Following their summer signings, many United fans were anticipating a title challenge. On current form, this doesn't look likely. This is the start of a crucial period for the club and there's debate surrounding the long term future of many of the players and coaching staff.  More fans have again been critical of the Glazer family
