Inter, alongside Lazio and Roma, began the weekend as one of three unbeaten sides in Italy's top flight but found themselves two goals behind inside the opening 10 minutes.
Pulisic scored his fourth goal in Milan derbies after just four minutes, heading home unmarked from Diego Moreira's cross.
Rabiot doubled Milan's advantage six minutes later when the Belgian midfielder Moreira played a short corner towards his unmarked team-mate, who produced an excellent first-time chipped effort that struck the inside of the far post before finding the net.

Milan legend Kaka was in attendance and gestured that he wanted to know the secret behind Rabiot's finish shortly after the goal.
However, Milan's two-goal lead was halved 12 minutes later when Inter centre-back Alessandro Bastoni headed home after Manuel Akanji's flick-on from a corner.
Inter subsequently piled on the pressure, with Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan having to deny former Tottenham full-back Djed Spence a leveller on his full Serie A debut. He also kept out efforts from Hakan Calhanoglu, Andy Diouf and Petar Sucic before the interval.
Moreira made Inter pay for those missed chances by restoring Milan's two-goal advantage in the 43rd minute.
His direct free-kick capped an impressive individual display from the former Chelsea wing-back.
Inter were unable to mount a comeback and saw a late penalty decision overturned following a video assistant referee review.
The immediate impact of this result
Inter, who started the evening at the top of Serie A, slipped to second, behind Lazio on goal difference. The three points lifts Milan into fourth place, above Como, who are yet to play this weekend.
