Some relief for Tottenham Hotspur
It could be a dramatic end to the season at the bottom of the Premier League

It has been a trying season for Tottenham supporters, but after watching their side concede a late equaliser at home to Brighton, there was at least some consolation in West Ham’s failure to make the most of their opportunity at Crystal Palace.
The Hammers’ draw at Selhurst Park leaves things largely unchanged, with Spurs still two points adrift of safety as they continue their battle to avoid a first top-flight relegation since 1977.
Spurs need to avoid an unwanted record
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi struck a defiant tone after Saturday’s draw with Brighton & Hove Albion, insisting his side are “able to win five games in a row” before the end of the season.
Yet for all De Zerbi’s belief in his players, little in this campaign points to a team capable of such a run.
Spurs are without a win in their past 15 league matches, have yet to record a top-flight victory in 2026 and have managed only two since 26 October.
They now face a must-win encounter against bottom club Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday to avoid matching the worst winless league run in the club’s history, set 91 years ago between 1934 and 1935.
A missed opportunity for West Ham?
A game in which so little unfolded may yet prove pivotal for West Ham United, though whether in a positive or damaging sense remains to be seen.
How supporters come to view the result will hinge on survival. In more comfortable circumstances, it is unlikely this would linger long in the memory.
The visitors were the brighter side in the first half, moving the ball with purpose but failing to convert promising positions into clear chances.
A header from Konstantinos Mavropanos, delivered from El Hadji Malick Diouf’s cross, was as close as they came to a breakthrough.
Where they lacked cutting edge in attack, there was at least defensive resolve. Crystal Palace were limited to a single shot on target, even as the hosts finished the stronger.
That will offer some encouragement to Nuno EspĂrito Santo, though he and the travelling support may still reflect on whether a greater element of risk might have been justified while they were on top.
