The centre-back, who joined from Newcastle in the summer, had earlier conceded a penalty that allowed Dortmund to take a 4-2 lead. He made amends when he met Dusan Vlahovic’s 94th-minute finish with a headed goal two minutes later.
The match provided a remarkable second-half display, with all eight goals coming after the 51st minute and Juventus recovering from conceding three times. It was only the second Champions League match to see eight goals scored in one half, following Bayern Munich’s 9-2 victory over Dinamo Zagreb last season.

How the second half unfolded
Karim Adeyemi opened the scoring for Dortmund, skilfully shifting the ball on the edge of the box before slotting it into the far corner.
Juventus responded 11 minutes later with a moment of brilliance from Kenan Yildiz, who curled a long-range effort into the top corner.
Dortmund regained the lead almost immediately, Felix Nmecha bending a first-time shot into the top corner. Vlahovic levelled for Juventus less than two minutes later after a one-on-one chance.

Dortmund struck again when Yan Couto drove a low shot past Michele di Gregorio from close range, and Ramy Bensebaini extended the lead from the penalty spot after Kelly handled in the box.
In the final moments, Vlahovic’s effort struck the woodwork before setting up Kelly to head home and secure a dramatic draw.
