Now 33, Son remains under contract with Tottenham until 2026 but is expected to complete a move to Los Angeles in the MLS in the coming weeks.
He captained Spurs to Europa League glory in May, when they beat Manchester United in the final to end a 17-year wait for silverware.
Tottenham are currently in Seoul as part of their pre-season tour, with Son expected to lead the side out against Newcastle United on Sunday. If the deal is finalised before the Premier League season begins, his final appearance for the club could come on home soil.
A closer look at his career in the Premier League
Son made his Tottenham debut in September 2015 and went on to feature in 333 Premier League matches, scoring 127 goals. That tally puts him level with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at 16th on the all-time Premier League scorers list, above the likes of Steven Gerrard, Dwight Yorke and Ian Wright.

His partnership with Harry Kane became one of the most prolific in Premier League history. The duo combined for 47 goals, with Son scoring 24 of them, and were at their most lethal between 2020 and 2022, contributing to 21 goals across those two seasons alone.
Son became the first Asian player to win the Premier League Golden Boot, sharing the accolade with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah after scoring 23 goals in the 2021–22 campaign. A year later, he became the first Asian player to reach 100 Premier League goals.
He also played a key role in Tottenham’s run to the Champions League final in 2019, which they lost 2–0 to Liverpool, and was appointed club captain in August 2023 following Hugo Lloris’s departure.
