Celtic 4 - 0 St Johnstone
Nicolas Kuhn opened the scoring in the first half, while Kyogo Furuhashi netted a double in the second half, with Daizen Maeda adding a fourth goal.
A closer look at what happened at Celtic Park
It was a largely one-sided affair, with Simo Valakari’s side putting up some resistance early on. Cameron Carter-Vickers, Kyogo, and Arne Engels all came close to breaking the deadlock.
The opener came from a familiar source. Nicolas Kuhn, receiving the ball from Reo Hatate, cut inside and slotted it home with ease, leaving the goalkeeper no chance. The German forward’s knack for producing key moments in front of goal has been exceptional this season.
Moments later, Kuhn nearly struck again, forcing a superb save from Josh Rae as his curling effort seemed destined for the far top corner.

St Johnstone made a few changes at half-time and briefly showed signs of improvement, but they couldn’t turn the tide. Pinned back relentlessly, they struggled to find a foothold.
Kuhn went close again before Kyogo capitalised on a well-worked corner. Paulo Bernardo’s flick was parried by Rae, and Kyogo was on hand to nod in from close range—Celtic’s 50th league goal of the season in just 18 matches.
Kyogo added another soon after, finishing off a stunning low cross from Engels that left Rae helpless as St Johnstone’s resistance crumbled.
By this point, it was damage limitation for the visitors. Substitute Maeda then added to their misery, calmly slotting home after a perfectly timed through ball from Bernardo.
It was a ruthless display from the reigning champions, once again showing their dominance.

Celtic’s domestic dominance rolls on with yet another convincing victory, showing no signs of slowing down.
Even with captain Callum McGregor and Maeda rested, Brendan Rodgers’ side barely missed a beat, a testament to the incredible depth of their squad.
Reaching the 50-goal mark by the halfway point of the Premiership season speaks volumes about their attacking prowess. Their ability to overcome any early resistance from opponents is relentless—they always seem to find a way.
Next up is a trip to face Rangers on 2 January, a fixture that could prove pivotal. With the squad’s form and depth, Celtic will head into the derby full of confidence.
For now, everything seems to be falling perfectly into place for the reigning champions, who remain in an enviable position as the season progresses.
