Brighton’s winless streak continues
Brighton & Hove Albion 0 - 0 Brentford
Brighton’s winless streak in the Premier League extended to six matches after a determined Brentford side held them to a goalless draw, securing only their second away point of the season.
The home side came close to breaking the deadlock just five minutes in. Joao Pedro, with his back to goal, cleverly laid the ball off to Julio Enciso, whose first-time curling effort struck the right post.
That was as close as either team came to scoring on a chilly, misty evening at the Amex Stadium.
Brentford, boasting the league’s worst away record, thought they’d taken the lead in the 14th minute against the run of play. Yoane Wissa burst through Brighton’s defence and finished emphatically, only for VAR to rule him narrowly offside as he collected the ball.
There was a heartwarming moment late on when Brighton midfielder Solly March came on as a substitute to a standing ovation from the home crowd. It marked his return after 14 months sidelined with a serious knee injury sustained in Brighton’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in October 2023.
However, March was unable to conjure up a late winner, firing over from the edge of the box deep into stoppage time.
Brighton reaction
Peter, a Brighton fan, told us: "We headed to the stadium feeling confident that we could end our run of games without a win. The first half was promising, especially after their goalkeeper was sent off; we maintained most of the possession and were passing well. However, things quickly fell apart. Time and again, we found ourselves in the box, but we missed opportunities to shoot and instead opted to pass out to the right. I have no idea why this happened, unless it was due to a lack of confidence in scoring.
"At the final whistle, their players and fans celebrated a 0-0 scoreline, Brighton fans were not so happy. The booing after the match was a bit over the top. Some of our fans need to remember where this club was 20 years ago. We were in the third tier with no hopes of getting an actual stadium. There's still a chance that we could finish this campaign with some form of European qualification."
A good away trip for Brentford?

Daniel was in the away end, he told us: "That was a good draw for us. It was probably frustrating to not score on any of the brilliant counter-attacks, injuries concerning as always, but some standout performances with Mikkel Damsgaard man of the match.
He went onto say: "While a 0-0 draw might not have neutrals rushing to watch the highlights, especially compared to the usual excitement of our home games, this was precisely the kind of performance our fans needed. We looked a lot more solid."
