Nations League: England win on historic night for Kane
England 2 - 0 Finland
England captain Harry Kane celebrated his 100th cap by scoring two spectacular goals to lead his team to victory over Finland in the UEFA Nations League at Wembley.
Before kick-off, Kane was honoured with a golden cap to mark the milestone and sported golden boots, which he used to break down a stubborn Finnish defence.
Despite England's struggles to convert possession into goals early on, with Kane being thwarted twice by Finnish keeper Lukas Hradecky and having a goal disallowed for offside, he eventually broke the deadlock.

Kane netted his 67th international goal with a strike that perfectly suited the occasion. In the 57th minute, he took a clever pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold in his stride and, after evading the Finnish defenders, unleashed a stunning shot that soared past Hradecky.
Kane’s memorable night continued when, with 14 minutes remaining, England debutant Noni Madueke provided an assist for another clinical finish that left Hradecky with no chance.
This performance rewarded England’s much-improved second-half display and ensured interim manager Lee Carsley began his tenure with two wins, following their victory over the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Saturday.
The night was significant for Kane, especially after a challenging summer at Euro 2024 in Germany. The 31-year-old had struggled to find his form at the tournament, looking out of sorts and lacking fitness.
At Wembley, however, Kane was a constant threat against a well-organised Finnish side, with only Hradecky standing between him and the goals he so desperately sought. Kane emerged victorious in this personal duel, scoring two comprehensive goals.

It was also a poignant evening, with tributes paid to former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, who recently passed away. Kane was presented with his golden cap by Frank Lampard and received a bouquet of flowers from Finland's captain, Hradecky.
Aware of the scrutiny following a disappointing Euros, Kane’s two goals brought his tally to an impressive 68 in 100 England appearances, proving that he remains a formidable force in the post-Gareth Southgate era.
Fans speak highly of Gomes
Matthew, an England fan from Manchester, spoke highly of former Manchester United player Angel Gomes. He said: "I thought Angel Gomes displayed a wide range of skills, quickly adapting to the situation with his low centre of gravity."
This was a view supported by Liam from Rochdale. He added: "Thinking longer term for Gomes, switching positions with Rice could work well for England. Rice has excellent vertical pass vision and ability to read the game, it could be a win-win swap. Additionally, the former Manchester United player might lack some pace if we are counter-pressed high and the opponent counters. This is something that won't impact the Arsenal player."
